For TS, I suggest you don't bring your parents to use subway since they can't walk far distance, very crowded.  Just use taxi or their ehaiing, this is what I did when I bring my parents jalan2.

they dont hv data on u, u are not monitored, u have huge risk of trying to overthrow the govt

You are asking two questions there.

They increase a lot of restrictions over foreigners since COVID. Many cases Malaysian went there, book hotel on Agoda that said can allow foreigners then suddenly reached there say cannot stay. Imagine reaching there midnight then drag your luggage to find new hotel that can take you.

Whether they like foreigners like Malaysian. They look down on us even Chinese ethnic. Not all like that but big percentage do.

I went Kunming, Alipay all the way, but I noticed most petty seller only accept WeChat pay which I don't have n not sure if ours can be used there.  Should be pretty easy for first timer, as long as u can speak Chinese.

Bring my aging parents to Beijing first time.  They can't walk far so hotel must be close to subway.

Been searching around. Booked holiday inn express 10 nights rm3800 a room, it's free cancellation .  Looking for a cheaper alternative and found many local hotels rm150-200 don't accept foreigners!  Lucky didn't book n prepay or else burn rm2000. 

Anyone can recommend which hotel they stayed before?  Found ibis, near tiantandongmeng station but rooms really bare n small.. similar to tune hotel Johor.
