How's a Rize bank if comparing with GX bank and Boost Bank?

TIA.
*
A lot better than BoostBank, but could still be unstable at times. It has been a lot better recently after a huge issue with their IT system back in December 2023. Back then, people waited for weeks to get their cashback.

Rize always credit their interests around 3 am on the 1st day of every month and you will always find it impossible to login to their system starting from 12 am on the 1st day of every month. But at least they are very predictable and as long as you don't perform any transactions during the wee hours of the 1st of every month, you are good to go.

Overall, if GX Bank is rated at 10, Rize would be 7-8, BoostBank will be 2-3 in terms of reliability. Others may report different figures based on their user experience.

Haha, I love your above quote.  biggrin.gif

Thank so much.

I think the most important thing is user convenience. GX Bank update their rates and credit interests during wee hours, never kacau people during office hours. Rize don't change their rates that often, don't have tonnes of promo, no tiered interest rates based on different jars, and credit interests once a month.

All these help explain why they don't create as much chaos as BoostBank.

Oh and one thing, Rize is also one of the strictest/safest bank. If you try to withdraw above the withdrawal limit set a few times, the customer service will call you in minutes and verify your identity. Other banks probably just block your account and ignore you, waiting for you to email/call their CS rep to ask or report to unblock account etc.

And Rize has extremely good customer service reputation. They answer calls and reply emails without fail, solve matters in minutes to hours.

no prob..btw why u not going to tng+?

I never trust ewallets. They can gate your withdrawals as they like, stopping you from transferring money out if the amount is too large. They are not banks, they are more like fake wallets.

With a real wallet means I can put my money in and pull out anytime. But ewallets withdrawals are determined by TNG itself. Money go in easy, money go out no different from paying toll on highways...

Of course, TNG's reputation of being a horrible monopolistic toll collector doesn't help much as well.

But your mileage may vary. Some people can transfer thousands in and out without facing any issue. Such selective gating really infuriates me, so I stick to Rize and if the merchant at kopitiam only accepts TNG ewallet, I will transfer only the specified amount of say 6 MYR into TNG then pay from there. This help minimizes my losses, if shit hits fan.

for normal saving jars, my app still shown as 3.2%, only special jars updated.. will Boost u-turn again?
*
You never trust the app's numbers. Those can change multiple times a day as they update their app throughout today.

Just stick to the T&C and what is said in the FAQ section: 2.5 % DSA, 3 % normal saving jar + celebration jar, 3.3% for CelcomDigi and Sabah jars.

We learnt that the hard way back in 1st and 2nd of January...

Boost keep changing interest rate anytime?

We have revised our interest rates - but don't worry, they're still just as rewarding!

Earn 3.3% p.a. daily interest* in Savings Jars and turn your dreams into reality
Earn even more with 3.4% p.a. daily interest* in Special Jars when you spend with our eligible partners

So just sit back, relax, and let your savings continue to earn high interest effortlessly this new year!
*
I rechecked the FAQ links and T&C PDF, nothing changed. Check their FB page, 3.3% and 3% mentioned:

https://www.facebook.com/myboostbank/

Not sure where you saw the 3.3 and 3.4% thingie, if it's from the app notification, just ignore. As I said, their app figures are all wrong until things have settled down. Always check the FAQ, T&C PDFs and their social media pages.

Boost bank so bad? I just installed it not long ago 😅

Check Play Store/App Store reviews and comments underneath their FB page. Those should give you some idea about their quality.

GX Bank most people complain about their FlexiCredit service which is not used (and not recommended for use) anyway, so it doesn't affect most users day-to-day usage.

But BoostBank... that's another thing...

Already, just a few posts above you, customer service reply after 2.5 months... laugh.gif

For now it's good for earning 5.88% p.a. for the first 620.56 MYR only (keep 73 MYR in DSA, 60.84 in the remaining 8 normal saving jars and another 60.84 in the celebration jar. This configuration will give you 0.10 MYR interest per day = 36.50 MYR per year)

Warning to BoostBank user: do not withdraw the daily interests before they are credited even after 12 am.

I have a habit to withdraw one cent out of every saving pocket + DSA every 1 am morning, but I usually wait for interests to be credited first.

Yesterday morning I hand itchy withdraw 0.01 MYR each from 2 pockets before the interests are credited, then the system fail to credit me interests... only realize that this morning, so lost 4 cents in daily interests...

And here's BoostBank reply:

Stupid maths... don't understand round-up...

Should short RHB and Axiata stock... RHB people don't understand round-up... how do their bank make money? Better don't put FD in or take loans from RHB...

Very simple...

Take bus 160, 170, 170X from Kranji or 950 from Woodlands to JB Sentral... spend 1-2 hours, then masuk balik...

No need plane, no need train, don't even need a car! Just SG buses, or can walk also if you like laugh.gif

The beauty of JB's geographical proximity to SG... thumbup.gif

dei boost bank UI/UX fella, if it aint broke dont fix it la  doh.gif  doh.gif

I think they purposely do that. Already the saving jars allow minimum RM 1 withdrawal only. GX Bank never have such restrictions.

GLCs in this country, haiz...

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ May 14 2025, 08:59 AM)
in May 5 i wanted to Duitnow RM800 to TnG but failed facial recognition. so i had to use debit card topup to send it over.

so from then onwards, my daily interest is RM0.06 instead of RM0.01 (so I see RM73.06 daily. this is normal behaviour as i encountered this during last year's 5% cashback promo. i used debit card to reload into tng to get the cashback, and i also see the same extra interest as the money is considered "floating")

today, i found out that i have extra RM800 in the boost acct. tried to search boost trx on May 5th and 6th and it seems like that debit card trx has disappeared. so woohoo RM800 windfall?
*
WHAT?

Like that also can...

Too bad I cancel BoostBank debit card liao...

This company is going bankrupt faster than I expected. Additional profit opportunity: Short RHB + Axiata stock... laugh.gif

-------------------

To be sure, you received money on TNG side instantaneously, yet BoostBank side still show transaction pending/float?

TOS2 both side instant update, TnG gained RM800, boost bank deduct RM800. just that in transaction history, you'll see the debit trx as "processing"

i have no reason to suspect anything until i saw today's acct with RM873.06 (suppose to be RM73.06 bcos it's magic number + daily interest, but then appeared extra RM800. RM0.06 interest is expected as it's "floating". as experienced last year when i did debit card topup loophole to get 5% cashback)
*
Uhmm so BoostBank deducted 800 from your main account, then "recredit" you 800 when the transaction is processed completely?

You must quickly withdraw the 800 then...

Like that no need to work liao... everyday top up TnG with debit card wait for a couple of days to clear then money reappear... Do this infinitely and one can retire in no time! laugh.gif

The fact that they do that without prior notification to customer, and the lack of any official announcement via any means is deeply troubling.

This is FD in disguise, but without the early withdrawal interest-forfeiture penalty that comes with most FD in conventional banks.

200 mil is a huge number, they must have realized that their promos are not attractive and they clearly need to burn more cash to attract depositors

If you do round up trick, assuming jar closes on 31st Jan 2026, from today till 31 Jan 2026 (150 days), with one cent interest daily, on the last day the effective interest rate is:

0.01*365/(55.31+1.5) = 6.42 % p.a.

So basically a 5-month FD with 6.42% p.a. with maximum principal of 55.31 MYR. For larger principals, many other alternatives exist outside there.
