I'm afraid I am with him this time.
Think about it:
1) whole of DBD including the all important FTZ only depends on one WTP(from mainland some more) and one pipeline. Has PBA announced any backup plan?

2) undersea pipelines: any plan to run parallel/spare lines along first bridge in case the undersea line leaks?

3) 1350mm line leaks and they did not mention when it was last inspected and its mean time between failures (MTBF).
What other potential failures should we expect to bite us in the ass suddenly?

I get it that they inherit this legacy but a government cannot keep using "oh, we inherited it" as justification for doing nothing. If they already have a plan, announce it for goodness sake.
All these water interruptions will have impact on manufacturing industry and investor's confidence.

Does this only apply to Penang & Selangor?
Other states other rules, different goal post?

I get what you are hinting at but I'm specifically referring to Png.
In Selangor, frequent cuts are par for the course.

You can criticise all other states but it doesn't change the fact I mentioned above.

Latest update:
1) changed diving team at 0200hours. No update on clamping work progress

2) as mentioned by Burningsunz, Bkt Dumbar pump house started operating at 1200hr yesterday, supplying water to 15,000-20,000 out of the 120,000 affected accounts.
How long it'll last, tatau. So keep storing water.

3) temporary lines expected to be joined on Sunday instead of Tue. Ayam not sure whether it just means fully tied in and main leaking line decommissioned, or ready to cut water again to decommission the leaking line.

Hard for you to believe but yes, if BN was in charge of water like Selangor, there will be no water shortage.
In 2009 Federal BN informed Selangor PH that water shortage will occur by 2014. Advise Selangor PH to start building Langat2

Selangor PH insisted water shortage will only occur by 2019 so no need to built Langat2.

2014. Selangor start to experience water shortage and only agree to build Langat 2 in 2015

Why don't you also talk about Kelantan? Don't you get tired of repeating it like a broken record?

I found something in PBAPP website

Interesting find, tq. It's comforting to know.

No issues when the 1st PTSP is eventually decommissioned (after 50 years of service).

Is this first set supposed to be decommissioned last year, since it's built in 1973? So we're left with 2 sets? Now, are these 2 sets complementing each other or act as backup for one another?

2 clamp done. Now trying to fix the last clamp. To fix 1 clamp need about 6 hours
*
Also need to weld the three of them together, right? Since the original clamp was cut into 3 pieces.

Btw, what's the level of the storage at Bkt Dumbar pumphouse? How long can it last before needing to shutdown again?

On pba fb page, many consumers are still without water. They're very concerned about the tight (if any) window to store water for Plan B. Kesian wei.

That is for water interruption to connect the diversion pipe.
*
I see they have new isolation valves for the 600mm stubs where they will tie-in the new lines. With the valves in place, why is there a need to down the main line to connect?

Sad sg ara noises, I also very worried our window might not be long enough to store water, if at all. After water operations resume, we always take 1 extra day to reach us. And while water cuts at 1130pm monday, we can expect majority upstream users to panic store, so most likely our water will be cut off even earlier
*
Indeed. First to lose water pressure, last to get back supply.

Pba fb latest update, Plan A clamping is done
*
Great. Based on the plan, those EOL customers have 24 hours to prepare for the next water cut for Plan B.

most likely shutting down water supply for disconnecting the main line, and since they both already readily "connected", the down time should be shorter.

Also, need to test rite? gradual increase pressure... inb4 kaboom once turn on because cant take the pressure or the welding is not done probably because of rushing LOL
*
I have some knowledge in planning for such work. When we plan to down something to do something, there will be questions asked by the "challengers" -
-why do you need to shutdown the line to join the new line if you already put in the isolation valves?
- If you intend to shutdown the main line, why do you put in the new isolation valves? laugh.gif

If you only need to shutdown to chop off or insert blind on the main line to decommission it, you should not put "shutdown to tie in new line" but "shutdown to decommission the leaking section".

I find it very confusing.

Dont worry la,
If eol users cant manage to get to store water, surely pba can postpone it for a day

Initially bring ahead is just because worry plan A unsuccessful
*
Congratulations on being promoted to CEO 😄

Jokes aside, this should be done and communicated to the people affected. You see people grumbling and sounded their worry about not able to prepare for Plan B water cut. At least say something to allay their fear mah.

Emergency stuff like this dont care lar, janji got post to tell people they gonna cut off the water, and believe me, later sure got people who dont read will bombard their fb again asking why no water "suddenly".

Must let people scare a bit, because most Penangite have zero crisis awareness, all last minute one, you see last time scheduled water disruption, already informed 1 month before, end up what happen? majority last day only want to start store water, then cry why water supply was "cut off" earlier than planned time  doh.gif
*
You have a point there. Actually I feel that either the awareness is not there or PBA hasn't explained enough to them. Until today, I still read comments like "why still bother with Plan A, should start with Plan B mah", or something like "see, want to find shortcut by clamping instead of changing the line, now clamping failed liao baru kelam-kabut want to change the line (600mm x 2)".

Wash okay. Dont drink. Got chlorine inside. Not safe for drinking lar.

Chlorine is also bad for skin and teeth. That's the reason we shower after swimming. But I suppose when really desperate, better than nothing.
