The MPH Mid Valley Megamall outlet’s last day of operation will be on Jan 31 and will be offering customers discounts of up to 90% off from Jan 22.

However, they did add a bit of good news that it will be opening an exciting new flagship store at The Exchange TRX this year.

Shit... Good memories. the MPH in mid valley had a Starbucks in it in the 90s.

Mph in 3 Damansara shut down after opening less than half a year.

This bookstore business already beyond sunset industry.

Online shopping has killed retail stores.

More to come.

Soon, car sales will done online, so there is a need for fewer car sales persons. A salesperson might help with the car registration process.

For example, Volvo aims for full online car sales by 2030.

Sadly nobody read books anymore nowadays.. The younger generations rather watch video / read news from TikTok and FB

That's why the English standard level in Malaysia is atrocious

Might be next to close down. Who knows.

Maybe they will focus on an online store. Less cost like hiring staff, etc is involved.

As a reader, I'm really sad when I saw one by one bookstores in Malaysia are closing down.

Most of the Malaysians are not reading for pleasure.

It's different situation in western countries such as US and UK. Bookstores over there are thriving and a lot of people actually are reading for pleasure.

Same goes to their library. They have latest book collections and a lot of low income citizen over there makes full use of the library.

While in Malaysia, our library is like a dead place. Most people that come to the library just to do assignment or study instead of borrowing books. If you look at our local library collections, it's so outdated and lack of book collections.

Lots of people take medical advice from tiktok nowadays. Many GPs at small towns masquerading like some big ass specialists with sohems asking noob medical questions. People are finished.

Disagree with US. Bookstores there been closing down for years. Peaked around 2004-2006. I remember my first trip there, and Borders and Barnes and Nobles were everywhere. I maxed out my luggage at 54kgs buying books that weren't in Malaysia at that time.

Kesalahan BookTok by shitty TikTokers who viral shitty books causing websites like Goodreads keep pushing another Colleen Hoover crapporomance tales onto my face 24/7.

Actually many complaints on Reddit till some said it just not worth to splurge on physical Paperback anymore and I'm 100% agree with them.

Yes, I do agree with you a lot of the bookstores in US are closing.

But when it comes to latest book that available in their bookstores, they are the best.

But in our country, if I want to buy latest books, I have to drive to KLCC Kinokuniya or alternatively ordered from Amazon Singapore.

Tsutaya bookstore, MPH, Populars are so lousy. I'm a big fan of fiction books.

Youtubers, booktok influencers are mostly from US, UK or other western countries. But Malaysia? KRIK KRIK KRIK KRIK.

MPH Bookstores has recently announced the closure of its outlet in Mid Valley Megamall after 25 years of operation

The bookstore said it is having a clearance sale of up to 90% until the end of the month

The MPH Mid Valley Megamall outlet's last day of operation will be on 31 January.

With the close of a chapter, MPH added that the good news is it will be opening an exciting new flagship store at The Exchange TRX this year.

Ingat tak a duit tapi nampaknya bukan. Open kat TRX pulak...

I still remember when it was huge when it opened in Midvalley with a lot of books. That's the go to place to find rare books during university days. Sad to see it scaled down and now even closing that branch.

Kesalahan BookTok by shitty TikTokers who viral shitty books causing websites like Goodreads keep pushing another Colleen Hoover crapporomance tales onto my face 24/7.

Actually many complaints on Reddit till some said it just not worth to splurge on physical Paperback anymore and I'm 100% agree with them.

pls give link for the reddit complaints you mentioned, TQ

Yes, I do agree with you a lot of the bookstores in US are closing.

But when it comes to latest book that available in their bookstores, they are the best.

But in our country, if I want to buy latest books, I have to drive to KLCC Kinokuniya or alternatively ordered from Amazon Singapore.

Tsutaya bookstore, MPH, Populars are so lousy. I'm a big fan of fiction books.

Youtubers, booktok influencers are mostly from US, UK or other western countries. But Malaysia? KRIK KRIK KRIK KRIK.

MPH book selection is the problem, all trash

Seriously don't know how it managed to last till now.

Msia don't really have reading culture, so when smartphone and digital era came, it's really difficult to make money from book already.
