QUOTE(magika @ Feb 22 2024, 05:20 PM) if the data is with the gomen stat bodies, think they can use it. Banks and Bursa/CDS data probably cannot, illegal to use w/o owner consent.with little work, little budget, menteri was hoping u will easily volunteer P&C data - not a good idea for a start. QUOTE https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...ink-tank/119662 “Existing databases by the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) should already fill most of the necessary information requested by Padu ,” it said, citing that under EPF, 15.7 million members, which consists of formal employers, employees, and self-employed individuals, contain details about the employment and income of these individuals. On top of that, the information gathered by LHDN in the Rahmah Cash Assistance Scheme (STR) programme covers 8.2 million individuals, including information about household members, employment status and self-reported income. “These two databases, coupled with other existing information collected by various government departments, should be merged to form the basis of the Padu system. QUOTE(hksgmy @ Feb 24 2024, 04:29 AM) As someone who’s based overseas, never had an EPF account in Malaysia, not subject to LHDN taxes, never used any petrol subsidies from Malaysia (since Singaporean registered cars don’t qualify for RON95) and never used KKM subsidies or any other subsidy for that matter, I’m not registering for PADU. And I won’t be surprised if the rest of the 1.86 million Malaysian diaspora working in Singapore, Australia or the UK or US feel the same way about PADU as well. if u r a non resident, not paying any tax, there is no reason to register. This post has been edited by AVFAN: Feb 24 2024, 08:13 AM !@#$%^ liked this post

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched Padu on Jan 2 and as of March 2, about 4 million Malaysians have signed up.
“This figure is around 18% of the 21.97 million Malaysians aged 18 and above. This is considered too low,” said Radzi. https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024...ys-putrajaya-mp |

trying to cut subsidies is a very difficult thing, the biggest chunk being petrol. petrol ron95 price rm2.06 a liter is way too cheap; singapore rm10, other asean countries rm6-7. cheap petrol = more cars, more big cars, more small cars... traffic jams very teruk everywhere now. i think they will cut petrol subsidy first, maybe cut by RM1. even at RM3 per liter, it is still v cheap compared to most countries. those already in some dbase, give subsidy... PADU qualified + previously receiving bantuan. still, expect inflation to incr big, prices of everything will spike. Citing the latest mapping system to identify which areas in the country with lowest Padu registrations, Rafizi said constituencies such as Seputeh, Segambut and Bukit Bintang had the highest number of residents who had yet to register into the government system.

On Monday, Rafizi cautioned that individuals who are eligible for government assistance are at risk of being left out from the first round of aid eligibility determination after the targeted subsidy programme is implemented if they do not update their data in Padu. Instead, he said those individuals would have to wait for the next round when Padu reopens for updates at a regular frequency level that will be determined by the government later. |

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Mar 21 2024, 09:45 AM) Previously said... in that context, "update" should mean register as new, fill up info. They would use existing database from STR & DOSM if don't update... No issues... All linked up one... Now telling something else... No update no subsidies.... Please make up your mind... Which is which now.... anyway, if they wanna cut out 80% of the rakyat and benefit only 20%, the consequences will be severe. the normal spending will slow tremendously, economy grinds to a halt. i doubt any menteri wants to be accountable for this awful scenario. okay, maybe can do U turn as usual! ... not only petrol. maybe rice too. this targeted subsidies thingy is complex but looks like a sure thing coming: Govt may introduce targetted subsidies for rice, says Mat Sabu https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2024/03/...e-says-mat-sabu .. Anwar's government said it aims to distribute subsidies in a "more targeted" way but has yet to unveil the delivery mechanism. The central bank today warned about the risk of shocking prices and businesses if Putrajaya's plan to redirect the subsidies is not done carefully. https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/202...-reforms/124496 This post has been edited by AVFAN: Mar 21 2024, 10:04 AM |

QUOTE(coolguy_0925 @ Mar 21 2024, 05:13 PM) My understanding lah, if someone has better info please share to my knowledge...You need to write in formally to your branch of LHDN after you retired and have no other income (rental etc.) and they will reply you with approval and close your tax file Then, only you are 'officially' excluded from tax filing u can stop filing income tax on on yr own, no need to write or ask permission. but if u stop filing, u dun get bantuan or emadani... nothing. if u keep filing, just 00.00, every year, u get bantuan. what happens if u now dun do PADU is the question nobody has an answer. we wait for the demigods to act. QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ Mar 24 2024, 02:51 PM) is it just properties info that gov wanted? it seems like they want to know everything about you... including how much you spend eating and spending... if this is not big brother attitude, i don't know what is. QUOTE(!@#$%^ @ Mar 24 2024, 05:54 PM) just saying, gov should already have the info of how many properties u have. not sure why they can't pull those info based on IC but instead asking ppl to manually fill up. as for bank account number, i just gave the same one where ldhn refund goes to. again, i think already mentioned they can't see ur account balance etc based on ur account number only. i mean if they REALLY want to know, then just need to amend some laws and they can access all those info that BNM has. from the last few posts, it is obvious some hv no problem filling up padu while some others do.for me, when i filled up padu, it didn't ask for my eating and general expenditures. maybe got update now. if it is true 7.5 mill out of 30 mil v done so, that's 25%. whether it means anything to fill up or not, we will hv to see. it is not w/o good reason the sarawak man posed questions and lapiji now is asked to explain. hope lapiji finds sufficient meaningful data there to do what he wants. and gudluk to all! QUOTE(CommodoreAmiga @ Mar 28 2024, 07:32 AM) Again this is what we have said here since the beginning. You cant close something that needs updated data to work. Rafizi penipu kuat. Now he admits it. most people can see there wasn't enough transparency; communication on details very poor; too many questions w/o answers.yet he tried to bulldoze it with simply cooked arguments. that's why he's getting the brickbats. https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024...rust-about-padu https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/700912 https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024...lures-says-puad btw, has sarawak and sabah agreed to go ahead or still suspended? if this thing is done wrongly, it will greatly affect the spending patterns of the people and so the general economy. who will take responsibility then? i won't be surprised if everything will finally be postponed for a year, need to rehash the whole thing. QUOTE(ronnie @ Mar 30 2024, 12:14 PM) luxury tax pun dare not implement.... targetted subsidy is just half baked solution at the end. The richer people also spend more. If they are denied of too many things, they will cut spending, bad for overall economy.Plenty of loopholes they can never think of. Don't be surprised if nothing happens for another year. While lapiji analyse new available data for other purposes. E.g... didn't somebody proposed different dividend % for diff amounts of money in epf? |
