I want to replace my current Maxis Router with any other router that I can extend with Mesh. I can add Deco Mesh as APs but I can't use home shield and other features on the AP Mode. Is there any mesh router that can truly replace Maxis router, not just wifi, but also the DECT phone. Because of this one issue, I would prefer Unifi.

My requirements:
The Mesh setup should be capable of wired backhaul
Should support my dect phone
Should have the ability to block URLs for specific IPs/Devices

The problem lies in getting DECT working

Maxis uses the router instead of the modem for phone line because TM won't let them

You got a few options

1
Modem -> Deco -> Maxis router daisy chained on with internet and WiFi disabled to be used solely as a voip device, guides are around in the main Maxis Fiber thread

2
In rare situations where you are on Maxis own Infrastructure, you may be able to set the modem to do voice calls, but this is rare and there's no guide out there yet, I messed around with it in the past but I've moved on from Maxis Fiber

3. Ethernet voip phone or software voip phone
Refer to https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5243640

A phone which connects up via ethernet directly to your deco or a software voip phone running on a pc

For option 1 you can use as voip and AP. Just connect 2 cable 1 to wan for voip and another one at Lan for AP.

Hmm. Guess there is no other option. I am currently doing this. But the problem is the Deco Mesh doesn't allow me to use the shield and other features.

Guess I need to live with it or move back to Unifi.

While on the topic, My Deco is acting up and the second unit always show redlight even with the wired backhaul line. The line is stable but it shows red blinking every few minutes. Any Idea what the hell is wrong with this unit?

You're doing

Modem -> Maxis Router -> Deco

You could do

Modem -> Deco -> Maxis router

make sure Deco VLAN is set to Custom ISP and bridge VLAN822 to any satellite Deco

I not sure Deco VLAN bridge is from Tag to Tag or Tag to Untag

if VLAN Tagging remain same, just plug as is.
if VLAN Untag, you need adjust Maxis router

or, find (2.5G) Managed Switch and adjust the VLAN there
from
Managed Switch can go to Deco as Router
Managed Switch can connect back to Maxis Router as VoIP Gateway
