Hi all, how does the Netflix bundle work? Can we use it on the Netflix app, or must we use the UniFi TV app? I asked because my cousin is migrating to Australia, and she wants to install fiber for her parents back in her hometown. She is considering using the bundled Netflix in Australia if allowed.

It should be working on any device since you're taking Netflix via unifi (as long don't sign in to a tv in aus bcoz might trigger the netflix household detection, mobile device should be OK)

Oh so only TV will trigger household detection? Learnt something new. I'm using Netflix Premium now and didn't know TV will trigger. laugh.gif

Hi guys, I have been far too detached from the UniFi package, but my sisters still use them.

1) RM 129 for 800Mbps (free speed upgrade from 500Mbps)
2) RM 129 for 300Mbps (free speed upgrade from 100Mbps)

Both are out of contract now, Are there any better deals for them? Especially (2). Can (1) still get a free speed upgrade to 1Gbps? laugh.gif

For (2), go Tmpoint and request SWU 4.0 plan. 300mbps without TV pack for Rm119.

I see, so RM 10 lesser is still a saving for my sis. tongue.gif

If currently on Ultimate pack, how to get it changed to Ruby Plus? Just want the free TVB Anywhere+ access. Ultimate costs more than Ruby Plus right?

Since 2018, we have been paying RM 129 for 500Mbps, but apparently, my sister said TM cannot upgrade our package to 800Mbps for RM 129. I'm not sure why, but TM refuses to give us a free upgrade. We are also using Astro at home and are thinking of changing to Astro Fiber 500Mbps for RM 90.

Any better options if we were to continue with UniFi? Minimum package is 500Mbps. Otherwise, I see no point to continue with TM anymore since we will still need Astro subscription at home.

Is this a good choice or any better options?

All this while I thought we are already on 800Mbps at home and until recently my sister checked and confirmed it is only 500Mbps. sweat.gif When I'm at home, I don't use the connection, I use U Home 5G, that's why I'm not aware. tongue.gif

Try to nego RM119 for 500mbps. Otherwise, I see no harm taking up Astro fibre.
*
Even with RM 119 is still expensive. hmm.gif I guess we gotta move out and save RM 39 per month.

You mean they did not bump you to the next speed under FSU as promised last year?
*
Yeah, nothing was done. Asked also didn't get.

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Apr 15 2025, 09:22 PM)
If that's the case, then port out. As Rm119 consider cheap for Unifi 500mbps plan. If want to further reduce cost, U Home 5G is the solution.
Any proof? Seems like all heresay.
As long as Unifi infra in your area do not suffer from frequent breakdown, then should be fine. It's just like how some people saying Maxis fibre not good, but we don't hear them complain about international congestion like Unifi. But when infra break down, then of course TM will not prioritise stepchild.
*
I applied U Home 5G for my mom to bring back to our hometown to use if she visits there. It won't be made as permanent broadband at home, just as backup.

Yeah, it hardly suffers any outage here, so I guess it should be OK. I'm happy with my Maxis Fiber too at my own place, no issue and exceeds my expectation though it is riding on UniFi infra.

go astro broadband thread you may see
you go astro broadband read it

I checked out, looks OK to me.

QUOTE(hsbb @ Apr 15 2025, 09:34 PM)
Either maxis broadband, time or allo. Choose one upon registration but depends on your area also which to choose  About 'unstable' need to get detail about specific isp from that someone who mentioned. Basically the monthly bill will show Astro broadband + what ISP.
*
Noted, so in that case, if we were to go ahead, it should be Maxis then.

I asked my sister to ask for 800Mbps again, she said 500Mbps is sufficient to use and we have been using it for years. She is more than happy for a lower monthly fees than a higher speed. laugh.gif

After Astro submitted the transfer request to UniFi, UniFi called my sister earlier to retain her.

Unifi counter-offered RM 90 for 500Mbps (to match Astro bundled plan) with free 600 minutes. The Ultimate pack will be retained too. On top, they will give one year of Disney Hotstar subscription. This will tie her up for another 24-month contract.

My sister is requesting free months, and the CS said she would check with her management. Let's see when she calls back again next week. My sister forgot to ask what happens after 24 months: Is the discount perpetual, or is it back to RM 129 (what she is paying currently)? She will ask next week.

You'll be tied for fixed RM90/mth for 24mth astro broadband.

I know and it is not an issue since my mom still watches the Astro anyway.
Looks like after this counter offer, we will stick back to UniFi. Let's see.
