As per the Unifi procedure, the technician is responsible for replacing the old HG8240H with an optical network router (ONR) that can handle internet speeds of 1 Gbps and higher. However, you can set the ONR to bridge mode (it will just become a modem/digital media converter) and use your third-party router as the primary router to authenticate the PPPoE.

According to a Unifi technician, the ONR is currently in limited stock.

TM came to upgrade 800Mbps to 1Gbps today. Opened MCMC ticket last week.

TM Tech no idea about GPON bridge mode.

After they left, I followed instruction by eclectice for configuring GPON bridge and now back to using my own ASUS RT-AX86U.

VOIP is also working but need to enable back the proxy setting because it was disabled after changing to GPON bridge mode.

Haven't test the IPTV on my own ASUS router (LAN4).

Note: DHCP stopped working after changing to GPON bridge mode but luckily manage to login back to D-Link ONU router by connecting to LAN4 and manually set laptop IP to 192.168.0.x

Every night struggle with slow connection! TM international bandwidth seem like max out.

Slowdowns on certain IP ranges yes, but redialing it always fixes it

Just walked in today to terminate my Unifi... fed up with the connection.

the only issue i have with the white ONR is the 1Gbps port limit.
just make it 2.5Gbps to fulfill the subscribed speed to its truest sense.

Bridge to your own router? If router lan 1g then that's the expected speed. Both must be 2.5gbe to eliminate the overhead.

after the current 2Gbps contract is over, I think i'll stop subscribing Unifi and continue with Maxis 800Mbps. cannot continue this waterfish relationship.

How is maxis?  What package?  Price?
