Network quality seems worse after free speed upgrade.

Experience video keep buffering, this issue is not there before free speed upgrade.

In public IP somemore, how to solve this problem?
*
Yes. It's even less reliable after free upgrade. Thinking to go 5G next year when contract expires.

Right now using celcom home 5g, brought back from office. Can say much much faster and smoother than unifi.

mine no problem i think you use free tm router that crappy
mine use my own asus router very stable always full speed 500mbps
video always smooth never buffering so no problem
5G is no good due get ping higher then Fibre and 5G not suitable gaming will chance lag due ping higher
compare fibre always get ping lower and gaming can lower ping smooth

5G wont work P2P Torrent its blocked compare fibre P2P Torrent not blocked but always fully speed max
*
I dont torrent anymore. Besides are you sure torrent is blocked? Gonna try later.

As for gaming, I'll ask my sonnto try with roblox. As for me, I'm playing Honor of Kings and it's not worse than fiber.

hmm not a user but can search around the um home thread. 1tb fup still block torrent but rm68 cannot ask too much lah

maxshit and celcom home they allow but pricier with fup lower

home got unifi 500m so no need for 5g home anyway. at least i tried yes 5g and signal is good and fast with occasional speedtest that will burn 2-3gb each time
*
Celcom is 1tb... where got low

454.4KiB/s or 3.72Mbit/s is damn slow in 2024.

ADSL2 on old copper telephone line can theoretically reach 20+Mbit/s.
*
Please dont make stupid statement like this... you knew damn well how torrent works...

That is crazy slow. Can you try on a well seeded public torrent? I usually use linux ones for testing usually Centos.

I'm assuming you know how torrent works so, for testing, don't use jack sparrow stuff where everybody hits and runs.

If there aren't any forms of blocking, you will get full speed. Take a note of your current speed since 4G/5G tends to fluctuate more.
*
Speed test on torrent is pointless. If blocked, it will be 0kB/s. If throttled, it will be below 100kB/s. This is not throttled, so whatever you get from fast.com bandwidth test, that's the speed you'll get.

Hi andrekua2,
I read back your post history and I am leaning towards a physical infrastructure problem.

You mentioned you get frequent disconnect and then your ONU will have LOS.
All of these point of a fault in the ONU itself or the fiber.

What ONU are you using? Make and model?
How old is your ONU?
Is it possible for you to login and read the input power of the fiber in dBm?
*
HUAWEI... I think it was 3-4 years old (the onu was replaced when I finally upgraded to 100mbps). I dont think it was hardware problem since it recover by itself most of the time. It was still okay before the free upgrade to 300mbps. Maybe I get 1 or 2 LOS every month or two. However, lately I have been a lot of LOS in a single month. Last month I get like 5-6 times. It is annoying because it happened during the time we are at home. I checked with myunifi and the problem lies with TM. I also ruled out sabotage since there is just one row of houses here.

I think I will wait until March or April for my contract to end and move to 5G. I think the past 2 years with Unifi has been up and down. At first it was reddit.. then there was problem with Iqiyi being slow. Even when my son tried the 5G, he said Roblox load faster and less laggy.

Have you file a formal complain with TM?
You can straight up ask for a new ONU and see if it helps. Just give the reason your ONU frequently get a LOS. It should be free.
When they are at your house, ask for a fiber reading and post it here.

You paid for the service, don't let them get away with it.
The Huawei is TM's property. Ask for a new one.
*
No... They fixed at their site... Never once came or call me.

Ya lor, we must fight for 2Gbps.
*
I dont feel a much better experience even after free 100mbps to 300mbps upgrade. Youtube still somewhat laggy. On 5G, the ads would instant load and not lag. On my fiber, the ads seems like taking few seconds to load for whatever reason every now and then.

If I have to take a guess, it is probably because everyone got speed upgrade, now they are watching 4k youtube instead of 1080p? A massive spike in bandwidth which forced telco to limit bandwidth for youtube or because they cache everything on their own servers and it was unable to cope with that demand?

From which phone number?
Except Streamyx which give dummy IPv6 prefix, should be fine for UniFi.
But some area got bugged PPPoE device, which you can only wait for them to maintain during midnight.
