For the free upgrade from 800mbps to 1/2Gbps later, need to change to the D-LINK ONR thing?

Is having a single d-link ONR better than the current modem + router setting?

Thanks

Mandatory, or else won't be able to get past 940Mbps with TCP/IP overhead, but you can use back your OLD ONU if wanted, just you won't get anything beyond 940Mbps

And TM wants to convince you that it is indeed true 1Gbps/2Gbps since they cheaped out on the ONU, so you can only get beyond 1Gbps/2Gbps with WiFi 6, and not LAN  laugh.gif

Currently using all asus router (main router and 2 mesh router); very convenient cz can use app to control and monitor everything. If switch to dlink, afraid can’t use anymore. Read that the given dlink quality is also bad as usual la... wonder is there like similar ONR but it’s asus brand out there??

free upgrade to 1gbps (still waiting), would like to maintain the current asus router for mesh with fiberhome modem.

1. can continue to use current "FiberHome GPON ONU HG6240A Modem" for 1gbps? or need to request for the black dlink?
2. the new device given is it combo (modem and router)?

tq

1. Can. After installation done. Simply unplug the fiber and cucuk back the Fiberhome. Then connect LAN cable to your Router’s WAN Port. Configuration not required.
2. New devices so far all combo box (Modem+Router) if you getting white one, then it is old model. If black colour, that’s the new model.

But it depends on actual situation ya.

Thanks for the info.
1.Any idea what is the max range speed for wifi & lan? seen it here before like it will max out around 940mbps if continue to use fiberhome and router due to limitation; is that still the case?
2.If use their white/black combo, not possible to get full 1gbps via lan also right?
2. if so, combo has any better than having 2 separate device? in term of speed or coverage?

Thanks

1. If you continue with Fiberhome and the own router, the maximum speed for both WiFi and LAN can reach approximately 940Mbps.
2. This is incorrect. The white model cannot achieve 1Gbps via LAN, but reachable on WiFi; however, the black model can reach full 1Gbps since it has a 2.5G LAN port.
3. If you use the stock router provided by TM, proceed with the newly provided combo box better, in that case you will get full 1gbps on Wifi. If you have your own router (better than TM provided router) or using mesh system, stick with Fiberhome and Asus so that you can continue with current router/+mesh. Unless you have a 2.5G router. In that case, you can pair it with the black combo to get your own router and full 1Gbps speed. Otherwise as long as you plugged with fiberhome, max 940mbps

Clearer now. Thanks for the info yea.
3. ""Unless you have a 2.5G router. In that case, you can pair it with the black combo to get your own router and full 1Gbps speed."" --> how can we pair this combo with own asus router le? need ask the technician to configurate the black combo as bridge mode?

Thanks smile.gif

1. Connect the fiber to the Black combo.
2. Use an LAN cable to connect the 2.5G Port on the Black combo to your ASUS 2.5G WAN port.
3. Follow the instructions below to change the Black combo to GPON Bridge mode.

You can use this method as well on White combo or with existing Asus rounter. Just the speed has limitations to max of 940mbps.

🤭 I have learned from all the information shared by members here. Let’s try and get back to us see whether does it works or not.

1gbps user with black dlink combo (set to bridge mode) + asus ax3000 router. having issue with speed drop to only 200download/100upload (both lan and wifi also same speed) + tested with laptop with wifi6E. Have to keep restarting modem to get the usual speed after 2/3 hours everytime.

Anyone experience similar issue ? any solution to this? thanks.

Already few users reporting same problem

The only solution is to use back your old modem and live with 940Mbps for now

Thanks. so i'not the only one. wonder can i just unplug the all dlink cable and plug it back the fiberhome modem and use it? or do i need tm team to do some setting?

still need to do any setting for the white fiberhome modem? or just plug in the cable already can use?

have to keep restarting the modem every 30min coz the speed drop to around 100mbps only. something is wrong with dlink black box thing. technician got no solution to this.

if use back fiberhome as modem (instead of the black combo), the max speed:-
wifi - 700+-mbps
lan - 800+- mbps

are these speed consider normal due to hardware limitation? tq

Haha. You can't. TM disabled it via Nokia OLT.
There's a guy with a custom firmware that bypass this but he got sent cease and desist letter.

Welcome to tyranny where TM will slowly take control of you and MITM attack you

o. ok. saw the tm technician can access via phone. not sure how they can.

having issue with black unifi combo modem sudden speed drop, changed back to white fiberhome but only getting around 650+ DL both on lan & wifi with wifi6 laptop with asus ax3000. Was expecting to hit at least 800/near 900 via lan but currently bit far off (understood there is a 940mbps limitation). could not figure out why; anyone can advise? thanks!

*jst upgraded from 800 to 1gbps
