QUOTE(Mazda9 @ Jul 11 2024, 07:32 PM)
Hi,

I’m on 1Gbps Unifi plan. The issue is when I’m using the 2.5gb Unifi black combo box paired with my Asus rtac5300 router or with my tp-link ge800 router as bridge,  my download speed will drop after few days from 950mbps to 300-450mbps after few days.

I’ll call Unifi technical support, they will eventually reset the port and the issue will be solved for few days then back to square one again.

TM engineer came to give me spare fiberhome white box to test and see but surprisingly the issue doesn’t happen with white fiberhome ONU box.

Any idea what’s wrong?
*
Yeah mine drops to 300mbps by the end of the day. In my case though restarting the black ONR fixes it. So my "solution" is to restart the ONR every night.

I don't recall having the same issue with my white ONU but in my case I can't test it since if I switch to any other ONU/ONR I get blocked and can't get connected.

I suspect I'm on some shit OLT that has issues with 2.5gbe connections as anime4000 mentioned here there's some OLT that behaves funny. I assume this problematic OLT also requires hardware binds on the ONU side. It could also be an issue with the ONR, but until they have another 2.5gbe capable ONR we can't really test thag hypothesis.

I've changed different cables and the same happens. Didn't have any slowdowns while on 800mbps before on the same router.

Mine having same issue till now no solution from the technician. At first happened to white ONR but after I requested change to black ONR the issue not solve

Is your ONU/ONR also binded? Meaning you cant switch to another ONU/ONR without getting TM involved?

You can't change the ONR unless you look Anime for GPON stick.

I wish to throw away the ONR!

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jul 15 2024, 11:41 AM)
You can use your old fiberhome modem if you still have it.

That unit can deliver 920Mbps consistently.
*
In my case now I have the black ONR and 2 ONU (one alcatel, one fiberhome). If I connect either of the two ONUs they will fail to connect.

Before this the fiberhome ONU worked but the alcatel/dlink ONR wouldn't work, until TM technician call the backend to do something.
The suspicion is this shit OLT I'm connected to requires some kind of hardware bind to the ONU.

I applied to transfer to Celcom Fibre last week. Unifi just callled me to offer:
1. 300Mbps, 24 month contract, 6 months free, RM119
2. 500Mbps, 24 months contract, 6 months free, RM139
3. 1Gbps, 24 months contract, 3 months free, RM159

The 300Mbps and 500Mbps price is perpetual. However, the 1Gbps price is only valid for 24 months, and after that, the package will be 500Mbps for RM159 from the 25th month onwards.

I chose the 500Mbps for RM139 as it’s more than enough for my use case at home and with 6 months free too. Thanks for reading biggrin.gif
*
Is this the same SWU4.0 deal mentioned by others in this thread? Cause no one else mentioned that the 1gbps speed is only valid for 24 months unsure.gif

You're not the only one bro.

6. Right now, there might be a possible solution. I am using a mikrotik router, and have enabled multi-queue-ethernet-default (thanks to Anime4000's post) on the hardware interface I used to connect. Speed hasn't dropped yet.
*
Ah there doesnt seem to be a similar option for Asus routers that I can see from doing a quick google search.

But nice to know I'm not the only one, though in your case its even happening with the white ONU that only has 1GbE ports, I sort of assumed it was an issue only with the Black 2.5GbE ONR.

I do not think I will make a custom firmware out of it. This thing is held together using a spaghetti of ebtables, iptables and smuxctl voodoo.
They further complicate things by compiling it into a startup binary. I suspect they do this to hide the TM kill switch or whatever backdoor they are having.

To everyone using this thing, just throw it away.
1 Gbps user can buy a used Huawei ONU or PON stick.
2 Gbps user's only option is a PON stick.

*
People like me might be stuck since it looks like the OLT I'm connected to is bound to the ONU/ONR. If I change to another ONU I can't connect. dry.gif

Unless the PON stick can spoof MAC or whatever else hardware IDs they're using to bind the account.

All this is very concerning. However much I try to secure my network and privacy the giant hole there is unpatchable because its the way the ISP operates. Heck they can just cut all internet access any time if they want. Imagine a malicious actor getting into their network and causing mayhem...

Yes another user (RViN) here has the same problem with the black onu. I have the problem with my white ONU.

I changed a setting in my mikrotik router, enabled multi-queue-ethernet-default on the hardware interface.

I thought the problem was solved, it lasted 4 days, but I checked just now, the speed is down to 300/100 again.

LIke yourself, restarting the ONU restores the speed

That site is using the Unifi Biz 1gbps plan
*
I was regretting not getting a Mikrotik router but now I feel a bit better if that setting didn't solve the issue biggrin.gif

QUOTE(NagaK @ Jul 22 2024, 12:09 AM)
I'm the one affected with that. When I plug my old modem not worked TM technician came and changed to Skyworth combo box . But I keep and resetup and re use Fiberhome modem and live with 940mbps. So far no issues speed also consistent
*
Wait, so originally switching to your old ONU it couldnt connect (meaning your account was hardware-binded), but after technician came over now you can switch to whichever ONU it can work?

When I told the technicians to remove the hardware bind they told me cannot, so I sort of speculated (together with some other members here) that it could be that the OLT I'm unfortunately connected to requires some kind of hardware bind. hmm.gif

No one else having Internet issues tonight? Went out for dinner came home and I can't get connected.

In the black dlink 2.5g ONU the PON light is on but LOS is off. Phone works but Internet doesn't.

Funny thing is sometimes the router shows that it's ppoe dialling is successful but I can't browse anywhere.

Tried to get in touch with the live chat and it's saying I'm 160 in the queue lol.

Holy shit ... did they push some update to change something on the ONR??? I'm using the black dlink 2.5g one.

I called 100 and talked to the CSR and they kept insisting that my connection is working and they see no issue on their side.

Which I find weird, I kept insisting that my router either stays in 'disconnected' state, or sometimes I noticed it would be in "connected" but I cant browse.

They reset the port and still the same so I told them to open a report, thought maybe by ONR was faulty or something.

Anyway after I put the phone down I thought I should troubleshoot by making the ONR into router mode instead of bridge mode as I've always used it.
It worked.

So this is weird right, set it back to bridge mode. Connected my router again, it wouldn't connect - same as before. Reset the PPPoE settings, removing the VLAN config and now it works.

WTF. Its never worked like this ever since I first started using Unifi... quite concerning they can simply just change settings remotely and screw up my network. I'm lucky I tried to test with this and only wasted 40 minutes or so troubleshooting, I got lucky I could have spent many hours on this and had to wait for some technician to come over and considering most technicians I dealt with they wouldn't know what to do either. If they were going to change how things work should have at least sent out a notice to all subscribers informing this.

Anyway just writing this out in case anyone faces something similar.

Good finding there. Can you check your firmware version to see if they updated it remotely?
In my opinion having the VLAN untagged is better for user. You can put any router you like. They don't have to understand VLAN at all.
I do agree it sucks they kill your connection without notice
*
I didn't note down what firmware version I had when I originally got the ONR so I didn't check yesterday.

QUOTE(OKLY @ Aug 5 2024, 01:18 AM)
I'm trying to understand this - using own router via bridge mode still experiencing issues?
*
Well its like this - power went out yesterday at some point, I decided to go out for dinner, came home few hours later to the internet not working.

Rebooted both the ONR and my Asus router a few times, nothing changed.

Turns out the configuration on the ONR was changed (not by me) to I suppose terminate the VLAN tagging on the ONR, so my router which had the same config its always had (VLAN tagging enabled with specific Unifi config) couldn't connect/route traffic any more - killing my internet. Through some experimentation I changed the router PPPoE settings to default (removing the ISP requirement for VLANs) and was able to connect then.

In terms of bridge mode issues - yes I believe after a few hours my connection is still going to get limited to 300mbps instead of 1gbps which has always been a problem with this black DLINK 2.5g ONR or the OLT I'm connected to. Though I'm not sure if this same issue would occur if its used in router mode or not.

Is your black ONR firmware version DPN-FX3060V_V2.0.2? I just did a quick speed test and noticed that my speed dropped to 300 Mbps, the first time this has happened since I got the black ONR in early June.

I’m not sure if this is due to my recent router firmware update or the black ONR. I’ll need a few days to minitor it. I am aware that my router firmware has issues with Wi-Fi disabling, but reverting to the old firmware will no longer have issue. Hopefully, it’s a router firmware issue and not something Unifi is doing behind the scenes.
*
I've been having that speed drop issue since the beginning. There's a few others in here that have reported it as well. In general you dont notice the slowdown so doing speed tests is the only way you see. Though if you leave it for longer I realised the speed then drops down to 100mbps and at that point you can definitely notice it.

My "solution" is to restart the ONR on a schedule at least once a day.

I've been using it in bridge mode since the start, I'm not sure if it also happens if you use the ONR as a router, but I doubt anyone on a 1gbps plan will be using a shitty ISP provided router so we might not have a datapoint on that.

RE: 940mbps cap issue.

Seems like its either 940mbps stable all the time (if yours is stable)

Or 1gbps but every X hours have to restart ONR otherwise drop to 300 biggrin.gif

Haven't checked up on here in a long while, but reading the recent posts looks like there's many more people with the black Dlink ONR having the speed drop issue?

At first it was only me reporting it so the suspicion was this was only happening with certain OLTs, but looks like that's not the case if there's more people having the same problem. Or the OLT+ONR combination is more widespread.

I went and applied for the SWU4 500mbps->1gbps offer since I'd rather pay less and dont mind being on contract for that, same speed anyway. By the time the 24 months contract expires there's bound to be a better or similar offer I bet. Funny thing is they're telling me I have to setup a new router, not sure if their system hasn't been updated or they're changing devices again. The CSR at the TMpoint couldn't verify.

I have to go dig back the number of the guy who installed for me, not sure he will know about patching firmware since he didnt know how to set up bridge mode also.

But also I'll be overseas for a month soon so I can't really do for now dont wanna risk the internet being out when I'm not here.

Can patch remotely?

That sounds like security breach

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Oct 17 2024, 04:02 PM)
Depend on how you look at it. Each ISP modem/router have TR-069 which enable them to do remote management, including pushing settings and firmware update.
*
Yeah there's plenty of issues with their implementation, mentioned before in this forum that's why I'm planning to get Anime's GPON stick at some point.

Also I already had this happen to me, previously in bridge mode I had to specify in my router that is dialling the PPoE to use the TM VLAN config. They seem to remotely update the config on the ONR to no longer require this. My internet went down and router was unable to dial for hours until I discovered this by disconnecting the router and using the ONR as a router and saw that it was able to connect.

I reset my router and accidentally misconfigured it by forgetting to put in the TM specific VLAN settings and it worked.

My router default MTU is 1492 ... always had the issue.

What was the default on your end that you changed to 1492? On the Asus routers I've used the default has always been 1492.

Maybe there's something else that's specific to your setup that causes you not to have the issue.

I'll try the 2.0.3 firmware later tonight and see if that changes anything on my side.

I just installed the 2.0.3 firmware and disabled my nightly reboot.

I'll report back in a couple of days if the speed drops still occur for me.

In my case I didn't need to restore any config, it just kept what was already there - meaning dont have to set to bridge mode again. But I'd still suggest you take a backup.

Ok so I updated to the 2.0.3 firmware that was posted here on the night of the 18th.

Turned off my daily restart job on the ONR and doing a speedtest today looks like the speed is still stable.

can share how much speed you getting for both lan and wifi currently after updating to the firmware?
do you used this black d-link as bridge mode?
anymore random drop in speed during the day use?
tq
*
I only use the ONR as bridge.

Test the speed using inbuild speedtest on my Asus router, I get 1000+mbps down and 500mbps up.

Not sure I ever used to get random drops in speed, once it drops it stays dropped.
