>Guy came claiming to be owner's friend went inside car and asked for car key
>Staff had suspicion so gave to owner instead (incidentally came at same time?)
>Guy already inside car ask from owner, owner gave it thinking he's one of the staff

>GTA mission passed, new mission : quick getaway

Update: Caught already yesterday, all the way in Kedah. Kudos authorities very efficient.

Kesian no insurance payout.

Those who pannai pannai give car key to third-party like car wash guy, good luck. Insurance won't pay you.

Same with VIP parking, giving car key to hotel car park guy. Gone with the wind. U can start saving money to pay your bank loan and apply another car loan for new car

seriously? i wonder why not many cases like that, since it's easier to steal car this way rather than breaking into a parked car.

Break in is different.

Ur insurance will ask you to surrender your both fobs or car keys (usually in pairs). So If you fail to give even one, Ur insurance will take note and further investigate. They might even conclude you willingly give Ur key away so the onus is on you to prove.

QUOTE
Car owners in Malaysia commonly pass their car keys to workers at a car wash and collect their vehicles minutes or hours later. Although the transaction is often unrecorded, we are used to this business style — surrendering our vehicle to a washer that doesn’t provide any written acknowledgement or receipt before and upon the completion of the transaction.

The underlying cause for this carefree attitude could be misunderstanding your car insurance policy. Maybe you have a comprehensive insurance plan, and you think it’ll save you from every trouble. But in reality, there are exclusions to what your policy can and cannot cover.

Now, let’s imagine a situation where a young woman named Aisyah visits a mall in KL to do some shopping. Aisyah wants to get her car washed outside the mall at an auto wash facility. Young Aisyah thinks it’s okay to pass her car key to one of the workers and leave the vehicle behind while she’s shopping in the mall. About an hour later, she returned to collect her car only to realise that her vehicle was lost.

One of the car wash attendants had mistakenly handed over Aisyah’s car key to the wrong person. Now that the car is lost, Aisyah does what every car owner would do. She contacts the insurer for help and files a claim for car theft since her comprehensive insurance policy covers theft. Unfortunately, the insurer rejected her claim because the incident had happened due to her negligence.

Back to your question why thief target car wash, because they know this kind of culture is like norm

Valet parking got few cases people impersonate as staffs, few time already car missing when checked valet operator say never have that description of staff working for them (or maybe cuci tangan statement lmao).

High charisma people scam like that, high dexterity/intelligence people break into parked cars.

how about when you send your car to repair/service? you have to pass the keys to the service agent and they force you to sit in the room only.

Jgn cuci kereta bawah pokok, it is totally unsafe. They will simply put your keys on the table and anyone can just grab the key and drive away your car. It is funny people install this and that but when wash car they let go all kind of securities...

Sometimes when I forgot to bring the service chit, I just told them forgot to bring. OK jer, no need to check ID using IC or phone number tallies with their record.

I think they assume only genuine owners know when their car is ready for collection.
