I want ask if anyone of you have visited Langkawi lately for holidays? I have read numerous report in the press and I need to confirm. Reason is I have 3 company customers (2 from US and 1 from UK) that are coming to visit us from Sg and are asking to spend the next weekend in Langkawi. I was told by them they have impression that Langkawi of Malaysia is what Phuket of Thailand is.
I read numerous reports that very restricted beer consumption allowed and also the price has rocketed. Not able to wear shorts in public. Night bands are also very restricted and limited now. I called up the hotel to enquire but they gave general answers like no concern as long as in the hotel area. They are westerners, so these kind of restriction will be a concern.
Anyone who has visited Langkawi lately, pls share your opinions…. TQ!
The experience depends a lot on the quality of resort and type of holiday & activities & duration. Are you going with them or not? If they're asking for Langkawi, then don't make your life difficult by suggesting Phuket. A lot more can go wrong in Phuket vs Langkawi. E.g. scam, prostitution, police, gangster, ladyboys, marijuana. Of course can also happen in Langkawi, but is much less likely. Want to relax, then go to Langkawi 5 star resorts. Berjaya also OK, but I suggest avoid the cheap forest chalets.
Langkawi is not bad actually but not that good either. Good for family trip but not really affordable. U ask ktard also no get any answer. Most here just b40 who only bashing. Never go outside
back water red neck island with - malay cuisines and some hanful of chinese cooking.
indian food also got - but only atas punya sedap ..normal restaurant mampus geli.
massage b2b - sikit sikit - but whole village share that 3 thai girls.
car rental - used to be able to spend rm 80 = vios ( brand new) - now 120 per day.
chocolate alot expired stocks - some fresh ones but limited ranges.
the water aquarium suck, the mall suck, the stupid tourist bridge - always break down.
the hotel ok - the beach ok - the beautiful paddy field - with minum pagi - ok.
SUCH A WASTE OF AN ISLAND- piff - when u mix religion with economic sense. joke
i still remember the seafood restaurant dinner by the beach. Damn the table cloth also full of bird shit, not to mention the foods suck too. The price does not match the quality and the environment.
you ask ktards they only want drink women and weed only. and for free.
Langkawi n?ot that bad, the nature in langkawi is the best, the eagle nest, dayang bunting and waterfall are fantastic. agree they dont commercialize it enough but nobody likes crowded beach right? and booze still cheap, full moon party and private yacht still got, why worry? sunset on yacht with booze music and food is still damn cheap

In terms of water activities, island hopping etc yea it’s similar but make it clear to them that in terms of women it’s not.
Beer consumption and wearing shorts in public is not a problem for guys, for women it’s ok as long as you don’t look Malay. Small disclaimer, although it’s ok in public, some shop owners that are holier than thou might not be ok with it.
Night bands are still around just that the area has changed. If they wanna drink at bars and enjoy night music then go Pantai tengah and not Pantai cenang. Pantai cenang focus more on local/muslim tourists and Pantai tengah is where sinful activities are allowed.
