I just found out from customer service that the Maxis Family Plan won't get a free step-up speed upgrades unlike the standard Fibre plans. I think this is pretty poor on their part. I am on Family 6, which already gets 100Mbps. I wonder if its just a staggered layout or they're really thinking this is fair, since we "already get discounts on our bundle" as per CS agent's response.

The speed upgrade haven't even been announced yet. If you ask customer service, of course they'll say no.

Just wait for the announcement first.

They said November.

I guess it's gonna be 30th November.

Actually they did announce it didn't they? I called CS and they confirmed that there will be speed upgrades for the normal fibre plans, but they said that Family Plans are not part of this automatic upgrade exercise. But yes, perhaps they are staggering the rollouts. I hope so.

they are trying to phase out "unlimited" plans, too much strain on network and too cheap.

go to centre and just disconnect your phone line from fibre line

switch out your phone numbers to umobile, rm98 1tb can share. much more than maxis fake unlimited 300gb

home fibre you most probably need to manually upgrade to new plan yourself

If need to upgrade to new plan and recontract, might as well switch over to Unifi and free 3/6 months.

That is true too, I would do that too if UNIFI was as stable as maxis

i'm going through family plan t&c.

indeed, it's 1-price bundle for fibre+postpaid regardless of how many supplementaries. already kind of discounted if compared to mix-match the same assortment under [unlimited postpaid+fibre]

Just recieved my "free" upgrade from 300mbps to 500mbps. I thought it was a free upgrade. Nothing was written in the t&c that i need to pay rm159 instead of my prev rate rm149 at 300mbps. Or will there be an ahto rm10 discount like forever? The agrrement form emailed shows rm159. Hmm.. 🤔

Existing i'm using family for 4 with upgrade speed to 100mbps, earlier I planned to switch out all my 4 lines to hotlink postpaid then subscribe the 100mbps (which is enough for family of 3) but guess what happen when i went to maxis center to do it, they are clever enough to set a bump to prevent this, apparently i need to change plan to hotlink prepaid for 1 month then only can change to postpaid...

It is unfair for the family plan, upgrade should rollout to all customer, I am on the family plan with 8 lines (paying 499 per month) with additional one sub-line. Total 9 lines but I am not eligible to get any speed upgrade. I can say I am a loyal customer to Maxis, but this is what they gonna give us.

Time to separate the family line from your Maxis fibre, or just switch all the mobile lines to other telco family plan

Axtually maxis family plan is quite reasonable, cosider cheap. I just noticed the plan. Normal plan to have 4 share lines it is like rm79/line almost rm400. But with family plan you get free 100mbps @ rm399 which is very good deal and all lines come with unlimited quota. 👍🏼

Currently we (4 users) are on Maxis 128 package with 2x RM48 sub-lines and 1x RM38 sub-line. Total monthly bills are around RM280 per month.

Also my Unifi contract has expired, so it's time to look for a new package. Maxis Family Plan seems a good option to replace as I'll get the 4 lines + broadband for RM299 (RM317 after tax), which is still slightly cheaper than my current plan + broadband.

But with the recent free speed upgrade, this Family Plan at 30mbps seems not so attractive anymore. Would like to ask, for 4 lines + home broadband, what are the other better alternatives available? Can recommend some packages?

Thanks

If you plan to go for Maxis Family plan that came with 4 lines (1 main + 3 sub), it cost RM299 with 30mbps fiber.
You can upgrade your fiber speed by adding RM40 for 100mbps, RM60 for 300mbps, RM130 for 500mbps & RM210 for 800mbps.

Click below link and find the "Fiber speed upgrade" somewhere in the middle of the page.

another FYI to everyone, today i went back to maxis center because noticed my 4g backup dongle that i always leave it plug into the router is giving red light status only to notice maxis had terminated my 4g backup when i did my ownership transfer last week, so the new family plan doesnt have 4g backup anymore, not the same as shown in their off-ficial website.

This was my bill from maxis since i subscribe 2 years ago.

i took some time to check their FAQ, for family plan indeed didnt mention it comes with 4g backup anymore, maxis silently removed it, while the postpaid + fiber FAQ did mention it comes with 4g backup.

It gives me the feeling that maxis is trying to degrade the family plan and kick everyone to the new postpaid plan and fiber instead.....
