Hi all, I am looking for the purest white paint for trim and door, I have tried these following paints: - Dulux Brilliant White - Jotun 0001 White - Jotun 7236 Chi However, none of the outcome really shows pure white color, at least match the wall color as shown in the picture: almost all paints I've tried so far, will give out a hint of yellow. the worst paint I tried is Dulux Brilliant White, which will turn yellowish in less than a month. I'd like to seek advice from anyone who can tell me which paint i should look out for purest white, at least match the wall color?

Jotun Chi is not pure white, 0001 is the purest white you can find for Jotun if you want the 'purest' white, or nippon perfect white, but nippon perfect white is more for painting ceiling and not suitable for wall paint
you need to paint the wall and door with the same white and paint it at around the same time, when paint go through UV damage, daily usage wear and tear, the color will fade, even different type of paint from the same manufacturer with the same color code, it will have slight difference in color tone although they are still white
and white is the worst when it come to covering the previous paint job, maybe your previous paint job is affecting your current white tone, i painted 4 layer of Jotun supreme finish on my light blue color door with acceptable level of whiteness

QUOTE(fenrir0402 @ Nov 19 2023, 01:39 AM) even with white undercoat? i use Jotun majestic primer, the primer hiding power is not as good as the top coat itself, in the end it is still the top coat that perform the base paint covering, the primer itself is just to seal the wood and provide better suface adhesion iirc, there is no undercoat for jotun wood paint, only primer

Was this a new door? Solid wood, plywood or HDF? How did you prep for paint? Did you use same color code for wall and door? This post has been edited by Minolta: Nov 20 2023, 09:32 PM

It will never match, even if you use the same paint to paint both area. Because the surface is different material, once finished painting it will still look different. Also rarely we apply pure white colour paint, cuz its really easy to see the imperfection on wall and its very cold for house la. Recommmend to apply a much sandy beige off-white paint.
