i highly suspect 2 reasons:
a) not tech savvy and whatsapp co-opted the default call method b) some people really don't have free calls, so whatsapp call is so called free as long got data |

I only WhatsApp call those who WhatsApp call me. But so far no issues. Perhaps all connected to WiFi when I call.
