It is not ROM issue but hardware compatible. It's advice to get the global version if you want to use 5G unless you very sure that 5g bandwidth hardware stable to use here.

Yup, and you cannot use Android Auto on these imported China phones.

Follow this guide but with one major change, directly search "authorisation and revocation" in your search bar.

After all steps of removing ads done, reboot your phone

Yeah, switching between lenses felt little bit jerky when I tried it out today at demo store, a bit of an annoyance.

The phone felt significantly heavier than Xiaomi 13 as well.

The Xiaomi 14 engineering and economics felt weird?

Same criticism applies to Xiaomi 14 Ultra as well. As much as I appreciate the fast charging and charger still in box. The ergonomics of Xiaomi 14 is somehow worse than Xiaomi 13 (and even Xiaomi 13T) and can't compare to Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15 this year.

I suggest to debloat some unnecessary Xiaomi own apps and replaced them with your own choice

Mi browser > chrome/Firefox/edge/brave etc

Mi video > VLC or MX player (for video in gallery also can use Google photos to play)
Mi music > VLC / Spotify / power amp etc

Game center and Xiaomi apps store also can consider debloat

Yeah the regular 14 feels weird when holding. The ultra is better.

Was considering the 14, S24 and iPhone 15 pro. Looks like I’m shifting more towards the s24

S24 512gb is around 37xx on education store..

Before you pull trigger on S24, do note that this year, S24 in Malaysia is using back Exynos flagship chips, which is much worse than its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powered Samsung Galaxy S24 in other markets like the US. Worse in performance, worse in battery life and worse in thermals.

So in Malaysia, if you're getting a compact smartphone from 2024 for long term use, between Xiaomi 14, Galaxy S24, and iPhone 15 Pro, the best but most expensive is iPhone 15 Pro, second best is Xiaomi 14 and third is Galaxy S24.

But if you're willing to buy older compact flagship, the Xiaomi 13 and Samsung Galaxy S23 are better phones to buy in 2024, with S23 being especially better than S24 due to the more stable and power efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 onboard.

Then no education discount for imported S24 though, this year S24 series in Malaysia the only snapdragon version is S24 Ultra, so basically Samsung is pushing everyone towards the Ultra in Exynos markets.

Exynos 990 made Samsung look bad against Snapdragon 865. But the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor in 2022 made an entire generation of Android flagships look bad against iPhone. Phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 that gained bad reputation:

1) OnePlus 10 Pro
2) Oppo Find X5 Pro
3) Vivo X80 Pro
4) Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro
5) Samsung Galaxy S22 series
6) Honor Magic4 series

So bad that all Android manufacturers had to put out properly great flagships in 2023 to save their brand image. Personally Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is my pick for worst mobile processor ever because besides the processor problem of overheating and extremely poor battery life, the 6 phones listed above are otherwise great flagships in terms of camera, display and hardware
