those series are reserved, usually 5xxx (Mastercard), 6xxx (Unionpay/ Discover) and 4xxx (Visa)

i just noticed, you can't send money from overseas into your GX Bank account, SWIFT details isn't available

what do you mean? Contactless payments a.k.a PayWave? if you mean that then yes, you can do it overseas as well

just a quick update, just performed a withdrawal of SGD $50, you definitely wanna click Decline conversion ok any ATMs that offer that.

SGD $50 and i was charged MYR 177, close to MYR 175.80 according to Xe dot com

short answer, yes, GXBank debit card is cheaper, Wise charges a conversion fee as stated in the app

may i check with everyone if this is only me?

if i am not wrong, GXBank used to display if the transactions used the MyDebit network or the Mastercard network, but currently, i don't see the app listing the transaction is through the Mastercard or MyDebit network

GX Bank Debit card is usable overseas, no need to contact customer service, instead go into the app, card section and enable overseas transactions.


Contactless works, not all countries support forced PIN authentication, countries like,

Singapore (No PIN required, signature authentication only, first hand experience), so make sure you're always aware that your card is always with you

Contactless payment is a security nightmare, wish that contactless payments can be routed through mobile NFC contactless payments and all the kinks of can be ironed out
