Recently saw a good deal on Mercedes Benz A180 japan recond unit.

Some brief statements about the car based on the recond car report

2019 year

Mileage only 9xxx km

4.5 score

interior grade A

The price is cheap compare to other similar model in carlist, and the mileage is not even more than 10k km. I know that the car is 180 and may be underpowered, but it's for my partner and both of us are not fans of speed. Our normal driving speed on highway is just 100km/h bangwall.gif . The reason we are eyeing on this is because we like the look of the car, and we prefer hatchback.

What i want to know is that will there be any fishy moves that i have to pay attention on japanese recond car? and how much will the maintenance cost (probably will just service on any reliable workshop) ?

Thanks

Get the car chasis number, go buy auction report @scrut (recon dealer wont be able to forge japanese report). If the dealer get the car via auction(usual method), the report will be there stating original mileage /condition & prob with the car in Japan , to confirm if theres any fishy things with the car.
Maintenance wise on changing oil / filter will be ard 500-600 every time service. Problematic items will be the sensors, wheels & O2 sensors which cost abt 200 each on independent workshop. There will be option on warranty for major items, usually 5 yrs.....save u headache on those but need to go thru the terms on the coverage.
The feeling when u press pedal with turbo kick in....priceless rclxms.gif

Thanks so much for your advice.

Beside those regular maintenance, is there any other major issue i need to be concerned for this car?

To my surprise , my A250 is quite reliable. As I got it used, ppl been saying >5 yrs old Mercs very problematic. For the few yrs i had it, only wheel sensors failed me. Otherwise, its problem free for me.
Much better than I expected, on maintenance wise .....or maybe im lucky, though i dun really pushed the cars to limits, just on & off revving it for kicks.
One things u shud know, plenty of ricer wannabe will kacau u (mine stock car, no mods whatsoever) even if u mind ur own biz esp on Karak during night time rolleyes.gif
Try to get to know a Mercs specialist shop, it'll helps a lot that they dun slaughter you.

Good to hear that! I also heard that W177 model is much more reliable and less issue compared to the previous W176.

Standby for fuel pump, my mechanic place already got 2 case A class fuel pump failure. Need to jack up the whole car just to put down the fuel tank and exchange the fuel pump out. Latest A class/GLA/CLA all fuel tank are not link with the rear seats (compare other models can just open up rear seats to exchange), not believe just go search youtube for fuel pump replacement of your car model.
