Need advice which company to join. Here is some of my backgroud I'm 32 years old with 11years of work experience in automation machine, highest education is Diploma.

Company A
Company backgroud: Local company 30 years, years ago bought by MNC so currently become MNC Malaysia branch.
Branch Size: <150 employee
Position offer: senior engineer
Department: 30engineer, 3manager,X junior manager (Engineer staff resource share between manager)
Work scope: design machine,might have few junior under me, need to deal with other department for design and customer for requirement.
working hours: 8.30am-5.30pm
Distance to work: 1 way 35km 40min+- depends on traffic, travel by bike
Other: sometimes need to meeting with other different timezone country colleague/customer so maybe early in the morning before work or at night need to attend online meeting at home. Not sure need normally need OT anot, no OT claim, resign notice period 3months.
Pay: lesser than company B 100-500

Company B
Company backgroud: Local company 20 years, have few small branch for different production department due to space issue, boss future plan to move all in to 1 factory.
Size: <50 employee
Position offer: engineer
Department: 1engineer+boss(company owner)
Work scope: design machine, direct deal with boss, no need deal with customer. Boss said hope can find someone can help him handle this department/reduce his workload on this department.
Working hours: 8.30am-6pm
Distance to work: 1 way <5km 10min, travel by bike
Other: if work is urgent need to OT few hours 8-9pm no OT claim, boss said if willing to fight bonus 1-6months depends on performance.
Pay: higher than company A by 100-500

Company B less headache. Better chance for promotion.

It depends on the character of the manager...of course, that is hard for you to gauge at this point of time...Company B requires you to deal directly with your manager...If the manager is ok, then it should be straightforward for you...

I'm thinking this as well, lesser travel time and no need deal with so many party. Just need to take care of design work only

Company B is direct deal with the boss(company owner), yes it is pretty straightforward.

Also with MNC, sometimes banyak protocol and compliance...R u ok with that ? Also hows yr communication skillset ? U ok to liase with colleague from different countries ? If ur not comfortable with that, then think twice.

The bigger the company, the more internal politics usually.

The company B you direct deal with boss. As described on task, it means the boss rely on you for part of his task also.

You plan to further advance in career by keep stepping up higher ranking?
Or u just need to have good pay and normal working life?

Former is A, latter is B

Communication skillset consider still ok, current job dealing with MNC local customer so far no problem. Different countries colleague so far dealing with India before only. Starting I think will not comfort, need sometime to use to it. This point I also will think twice.


This is the thing that I worry also, beside work still think about politics... If dealing directly to boss I think can be more focus on work.


U have the point, actually I just need to have good pay and normal working life that's all.

Personally I would go for company B...

Deal directly with boss... Less politics

And close relationship with the boss, who knows... Get some additional perks too 😜😁

Yeap and if you feel you are good worker than company B better. Company A silap silap can kena VSS or in PIP. Some more A seems quite complicate, gonna have a blame games if not manage properly.

Want 50% technical work 50% management then A.
