KUALA LUMPUR: The Volvo S60 T8 is now available as a locally assembled model (CKD) and priced the same as the fully imported unit (CBU) that was introduced last October.

The price parity is because the fully imported model was launched at the CKD price at that time.

Like the CBU unit, the S60 T8 CKD will only come in a single trim – the T8 R-Design and retails at RM295,888 (on-the-road, without insurance, inclusive of excise duty and sales tax).

It is available for viewing at all authorised Volvo dealers nationwide from today.

It’s like slapping own face telling that the car is based on BMA platform while marketing it as a C-segment car.

I've seen reviewer videos, spec maybe a lot but it's still definitely B-segment. You can see in many areas, compared to proper C segment like X70.

-The bonnet is not damper but single stand rod.
-Armrest behind is just basic cheapo style armrest compared to X70.
-Nappa leather in X70 while S70 only leatherette.
-Sunroof looks so much cheaper compared to X70.
-Keyless door button is old style button, not the newer touch sensitive style.
-Cheaper hard plastics everywhere.
-Torsion beam.

According to PT, Vios engine more quieter(!!) It is a joke to call this C segment based on just size.

thats why best bang last for money last time is for x70, totally up and premium feel when drive, with 300nm from 1.8tgdi engine. on x50, they downgrade the camera video quality even though with newer gen HU. not to mention NVH was dropped for x50 vs x70. on x90, keep on using the single source 1.5T tgi 3 cylinders even with that sizes, hence to compensate, need mild hybird to get 300nm torque. Doubt this S70 had great NVH or on par with X70.

TGDI engine may sound slightly like diesel engine especially at cold start. This one made worse as using 3 cylinder

Because X90 also they kelong. X90 based on Jiaji MPV platform which supposed to be cheaper than X70. If you owner of X70 you sit inside X90 you will immediately feel it is lower and cheaper. The dashboard parts are cheaper. You touch the aircon vents also can feel cheaper.

NVH dunno yet haven't test drive but according to PT.org louder than Vios, according to other journo also call the engine noise loud.
