how to know when engine mount rosak?

I change mine at the 3rd or 4th year.

The car engine jerks as if you banging some1 in the car.

Yeah, almost terpancut when I see the original parts + labour price from SC. 😭

if car idle at traffic light then your car will be more shaky (compare to when new)

and vibration sometime will reach your steering and car cabin


this is also why 3cyl ppl complain will shake and kill the mounting
because odd number cylinder vibration doesnt reduce/cancelling vibration on each combustion cycle

Replace 1 thing at a time, easier to debug if things go wrong.

if u have friend that have same gen of car with good mounting then u can compare

if mounting really fucked up ; once engine start u can open engine bay and see engine shaking like washing machine

Just changed suspension and mounting last month.

Now quiet like new car.

Go SC get part number and source the part yourself.

Go out change it yourself, saves a ton.

TS ah boy, unker had the same problem and changed the suspension on both front side and the shaking reduced dramatically. Costed unker RM1.3K but I guess it has to depends on ah boy car brand, unker drove Toyota Vios 2012.

Of course, do outside cheaper... My Honda they quote me 10k for the almost whole suspension I do outside. Less than 10k some more with aftermarket absorbers.

Usually, things that are hard to access and need lots of labour time. Get original (Engine mounting, steering rack, CVT belt, tensioner, rear axle bush, drive shaft, absorbers etc). Things that are easy to replace (lower arm, absorber mounting, links, etc) go for OEM. But make sure the OEM part is good quality. I've changed the lower arm twice in 5 months because the previous WS OEM part quality was not that good, so it wore out quickly.

You can always discuss it with your WS, and they will give you a better choice, but it depends on your budget.

FYI, OEM parts are original parts. i experienced buying both OEM and genuine parts from the same manufacturer and the quality are the same. For example, I have 2 same BMW model, I bought genuine brake pads for one of it and Textar brand (OEM) brake pads for the other. The genuine brake pads are also made by Textar. Compared the quality, they are the same.

I experienced buying many other OEM and genuine parts. Normally, the only thing different are the labelling and the packaging.

Some people (including mechanics and sellers) are confused between OEM and Thirdy-party.

Just did 2 weeks ago on my 2014 hailak. A lot less vibration now. Cost RM350 for parts and rm200 labour (probably wont get this price if I'm not their frequent customer).

my honda city 9.5 years old, now only can start to feel a little bit vibration from the engine.

Done engine mounting at SC. Took 2 hours for the job.

Now no more vibration.

purchase engine mounting made in Japan from online at rm1.3k, send my regular workshop for installation at rm200. Good as new back for 8 years old car

People talk about standard usage of daily car , means 1 year car milage around 20k km , so 5 yeras is rougly 100k km

U pulak sergah masuk argue want to compare with pasar pagi/malam car

If you drive 30k for 5 years , that mean 6k per year , or 500km per month , or 16km per day or 8km per journey

So your morning market is 8 km from your house ?

Eh tiba tiba start plucking out numbers pulak .. initially suruh orang tukar every 5 years tak mention mileage pun.. tapi bodoh punyer advice... who use years as indicator to change mounting punyer.. ingat ni engine oil ke..

sekarang nak argue pulak ppl morning market punyer distane? apa kaitan pulak.. point is .. mounting shud be relative to how the car is being used and the mileage.. nt by the age.. sum 2 years ppl pakai 100k-120k mileage oredi koyak..

Just look at mudah second hand car ads , or carsome etc etc

enigne mounting will crack and harden even if low mileage. wear and tear of such cars are high due to lot of start stop traffic compare to smooth high gear highway crusing

Anyone change door inner lock before ?

Ive change :-
Door check
Door inner and outer moulding
Glass channel run rubber
Door rubber

Contemplating of changing the inner door lock too but its kind of pricey (Around Rm500), Wanted to make the door close like when its new.
After change the above can feel the road and external noise is reduce by quite a lot, closing door is more solid but still lacking the thud sound.

I changed engine mounting for my Avanza several years ago. Not cheap. But as a driver I do not feel any difference. Just based on the SA advice.
I felt it's a waste of money.
Any how, I changed car not long after that.
