Hi,

I plan to fix some ventilation grills to my cabinet made from ACP, like the picture below. Just wondering if it's possible to cut the opening at the ACP by using those hand blade? As I think the aluminium skin should be quite thin and inside is just some plastic materials.

Thanks

U are talking ACP or thin alu sheet?

ACP got multiple layer, u'll need a grinder to cut.

ya ACP like Vitally. yes it has 2 thin alu skin with plastic sandwiched inside. since the alu is thin so just asking if anyone has cut it manually and how was it.

from google i see it's possible but wanna hear some actual experiences

Invest in one angle grinder for long term usage. Don't have to buy expensive type ... 60 - 70 can buy one.

IMO ACP is too thick for your usage. Why not just buy some aluminium sheets from Shopee and cut that instead? I think will be easier than cutting ACP.

The cabinet is already made from ACP.

Actually the alu skin itself is not thick. the bulk of the thickness is made from the plastic materials. That's why when ppl saying ACP awning is 4mm/5mm thick, actually most of it is the plastic materials.

Anyway I'll try to make a small cut at an hidden area first to see how it goes thumbup.gif

In that case, I think it will be easier to just buy some plastic grills from Lazada, then cut a big hole on your ACP cabinet doors and affix the grills there.
Cutting small ventilation holes require skills and precision if done manually. Sure will not look very nice.

actually it is not easy to cut, if you cut 3mm ACP then yes, you can use those large hand blade to cut

usually cabinet come with backing + ACP as surface, 3mm ACP alone wont be enough for cabinet door, even though it is plastic, it can be difficult to cut

i've tried to cut those high density foam board before, in the end i just give up and use jigsaw instead

if you want to do a cutout like this, but the grill first then measure the cutout size, the cutout size is actually smaller than the grill dimension
