Tesla is the first manufacturer to sell in Malaysia under the country’s Battery Electric Vehicles Global Leaders initiative, which provides special concessions to EV manufacturers.

Normally, foreign-made cars can only be sold through a local partner, and sellers must comply with Malaysia’s affirmative action policies toward the so-called Bumiputera, members of the Malay majority and indigenous groups.

But Tesla, under Malaysia’s scheme, can sell directly to consumers without a local partner.

The three Tesla Model Y variants available for the Malaysian market are:

Tesla Model Y Standard Range RWD – RM199,000
Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD – RM246,000
Tesla Model Y Performance AWD – RM288,000

How many tax imposed???

Proton's 40-year history is kind of like a little joke. They often took existing cars and tech from other companies, put their Proton name on them, and called them their own.
It's like saying, 'Why make something new when you can just borrow it?'
So, for a long time, Proton has been part of this 'rebadging joke,' making us wonder if it's truly a Proton or just someone else's car with a new label.
Proton borrow ideas from other manufacturers rather than creating entirely original products.

The moment Proton was created, the old government decided to introduce a tax which can make foreign vehicle prices to increase for Malaysians by no choice to support and buy Proton cars.
This causes the car price to be among the second highest(2nd) in the world after Singapore.

For 40 years, we, the Malaysian people, have suffered from high car prices, primarily due to Proton. Interestingly, when we examine car prices over the past four decades, it's evident that they haven't increased significantly despite inflation.

Lol, I thought CCP was being hailed as saviour of Proton?

Now CCP pun sudah enjoy tongkat at our expense.

this is because our currency is soo weak.

if our currency =3.1 (10 years ago =2013) , then Toyota Corolla Cross (top spec) is about RM 120k.

Ts want less tax on car? Yes can. But follow those European countries, salary payslip with 46-50% monthly cut all for including tax.
