A lot of Non-EV Car users (even not a Hybrid Car users) strongly/highly ... recommend/advice/persuade all to get a Hybrid for some of their own unique reasons here and there.

Instead, why not let EV Car Users tell us whether to stick on EV or Switch to Hybrid with the best reasons or consideration?!

Depend what purpose of U r using the car for and do you stay with your family and your family have any petrol car ?
If ur job required you to travel long distance in car every week, then a petrol or hybrid car make sense.

R U or your family staying in condo ? or Landed ?
If your family already hv petrol car and over 90% of your time u use your car is for City drive, then u may still consider an EV.

So EV or Non EV, each person requirement and condition could be different. Petrol or Hybrid still good for long distance.

So good for your to do your own evaluation whether ur condition fit to get an EV not.

as Hybrid user, i do comparison with EV, Hybrid is still save a lot of money.
would probably recommend an EV for 2nd or 3rd car, but not as main vehicle.

Hybrid got the range (1000km) per full tank. You can used the Electric motor either give you more power / fuel saving mode but it comes with the highest maintainance cost. You still need service the car petrol engine, electric motor, electric generator, power control unit, and a power split device + Gearbox

2022 Toyota Prius XW60 in Japan.
The way I drive was Battery mode (60km) , until battery almost flat out, switch to engine mode (Recharge the battery until full) , then switch back to battery mode and drive 60km. sometimes need overtake car or need extra vroom vroom, used both engine & electric motor (220HP)

Ok, thanks for the useful points! As your view, it seems Non-EV car still necessary as a standby car and not an good idea to have only 1 EV Car in a household?

Ah... hybrid expensive maintenance, here's the point! Does it mean double the service cost (Petrol & EV Like)?
I remember a neighbor who owns a Civic Hybrid finally sold out because of Battery Kong. I still he only own for less than 5 yrs!

I thought it was Auto switch in between Petrol vs Battery mode, which means user cant decide!? As X90 seller mentioned... like below 40km it switches to Battery Mode and above 40km then I'll turn to Petrol Mode!

Wah... it an be Campur Guna the Petrol + Electric Motor 😲 never know!

So, you won't go for EV at the moment and highly recommend Hybrid?

Its pretty simple, does the current EV offering is able to fulfill your current mobility needs?
If not then don't get an EV.
Everyone has diffrent requirements.

Hybrid are way better than EV because you no need worry any range problem. 5 min full tank (Petrol). Go to mall or Airport, I park at Hybrid / EV spot, hassle free. New type of Hybrid Car are PHEV. You can charge your car like EV. Old Hybrid such as Civic Hybrid / Camry Hybrid / Honda Insight are non PHEV. Japanese hybrid car in Malaysia market are all non PHEV, so you can't park at EV car spot.

Hybrid maintenance really really high and car after sales value very very low. If you plan to play play for few years then sell, forget about it. Every 10k need service the car like ICE car, my Prius in Japan service around Rm1-1.2k.
4-5 years need change car big Battery, Electric motor, Electric generator, Power control unit, and a power split device approx. Rm15k + Engine Part will be Timing Belt , Engine Water Pump + Gearbox Service another 5-7k (plus workmanship)

yes. no range anxiety of EV that need to search for charging station at rural area.
my hybrid will be 6 years old next month.
at 110km still can use battery. not above 40km sure gonna be petrol/ICE mode.

my car service every 9 months or 15000km.
service more or less the same as ICE car, not that expensive.
the most i can get per tank is 1000km, average at 700-800km.

OMG! Which means user needs to service EV parts & ICE Parts, double the service cost?
No wonder my neighbor who drove Civic Hybrid sold after not more than 5 years!

6 years old Hybrid Car?! Wow... Any big problem? And so far. How's the maintenance cost in average? Estimating when will be the time to replace the battery? 🤪

maintenance cost from RM300+ to RM2000+ depend on the service schedule.
my milage is only about 77000km++. other user of the same car, reach 300,000km++ and the hybrid battery still working good.

but if talking about 12V normal battery, once every 2-3 years.

servis can apply installnent or not? or credit cards

i dont know about installment, but can use credit card on service centre.

maybe jp is different. so i ask.
is a good idea for bankers also

Only if you do high mileage.

proper Plug In Hybrid (PHEV) is the best of both world.
Hybrid (HEV) as second as it can extend the ICE range.
ICE is normal.

EV (BEV) not yet nearing HEV level. Yes, they said that low maintenance due to no engine fluid etc.
but the cost to own, the tax after tax free period, the special tyres, charging station for home, charging rate at public station... not money save at all.

RM161.24 charging with 1st charge is free, cover 1236km.
RM164 is approximately 2 times my full tank and can cover ±1600-1800km.

Regarding to PHEV, it seems the trend from now on ya?! In terms of Petrol First on Hybrid vs Battery First on PHEV, what about maintenance wise like both are equipped with ICE Engine, right? Then might double the maintenance cost for EV & Engine service like engine oil, coolant & radiator ... etc?

my service of hybrid car, compare to my brother ICE car, more or less cost the same. it is not double the cost.

the thing is, proper PHEV is no longer available. PHEV from europe, still put "performance" first rather than milage per tank. PHEV from asia seems dead and move on to full EV.

What I heard is the other way around — PHEV is the trend in Asia! Not sure.
