Hahahha, until they really mention this and launch, I am not going to put my hopes very high….
Anyway, the lady’s mandarin is bad. She speaks without any tonal, just like we speaks our English. I have problem understanding her, TBH.

Just got a call from my SA for perodua last evening. Confirmed Perodua Nexis is on this Dec launch. But only ICE version.
Told him that for now, not interested since I bought Corolla Cross last month. Been waiting for this Nexis for almost 3 years and my patience has ran out. Perodua wanted to play cat and mouse game too much. Well, too bad as I believe many of their potential customers for this new Nexis had turned to other models as they were unsure of them it will be launched. Anyway, this Nexis will face a huge challenge with those low cost EV for the same market size market segment, I suppose. Will consider this again next few years gua, unless EV infra has matured tremendously next few years.

Many 1 size larger EV and ICE in the 100-125K ball park now. It has to be cheap to sell but it will definitely eat Ativa's sales. Ativa has to go for facelift and quietly reduce price. Even P2 has no where to run from CCP car wave.

Add: The price is being determined by the Toyota version actually. And the Toyota version is now dictated by the CCP car prices. To follow their old recipe of 20K extra on top of P2 version is no longer doable in my opinion. 20K difference if one is a hybrid yes, if pure ICE no. Of course now people want those things like automatic aircond, wireless AA and AC, keyless on both doors, electric seat, etc. The differences becoming less and less.

Nexis, you mean? It is around 80k, smack right at enas3 and eMO. Ativa will have its own segment but still will be affected due to cheaper EVs . Personally after driving cross, I am still in love with Ativa. Zippy drive, compact enough for a 2D/1N tour for a family of 4. Reminds me of the Perodua classic car Kelisa.

Haha I Wait until already brought Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid. I statisfied my car have everything that I needed function & the petrol save me RM30-40 per week. I drove 1600KM this month include back Kuantan from PJ and daily work travel 60KM per weekday. Is a shame that Nexis / Yaris Cross for me consider outdated car May 2023.

No, Toyota. Not ready to buy Chinese made cars yet. They may be cheaper with lots of gadgets etc but the reliability, maturity and stability of their cars are still a concern to me.

If Perodua officially announced their plan to launch Nexis instead of the cat and mouse game, I would have waited for the Nexis. But no, they went crazy with their yes/no to Nexis all these while for almost 3 years. Got tired of waiting and playing to their tune and got Cross. I would still prefer Nexis or Yaris cross though as the Toyota cross is too large for my needs. Too bad Yaris cross hybrid will only be launched at H2 2026, if news are true. I need a bigger car that is between Ativa and Toyota Cross, this Nexis or Yaris cross fits the bill. Unfortunately, the timing (Toyota) or news blackout (Nexis) makes it difficult to wait.

Well, I am happy with my new Toyota cross HEV. It is a predictable car for a boring driver like me. 🀣🀣🀣🀣🀣

Felt that CCP cars are feature packed but quality is not there yet. If you browse through CCP cars group on FB, you will know. Simple things like seat also can koyak within less than a year, door handle broke, side windscreen broken for no reason, etc. We haven't go for other more major component down the road yet.

Like fongsk, I too have the same car combo, Ativa+CC HEV. The pure petrol Yaris Cross would definitely a better drive just like the Ativa but it will lack the fine details refinement especially like the e-cvt on the CC, it just felt so well integrated. If Toyota have a 4-cylinder turbo even if it is 1.0L with hybrid, it woud be the best combination. Not sure how the Yaris Cross hybrid would drive like but it probably will be a bit lacksture in terms of driving but given the weight, it might be just okayish.
