im moving to an apartment. installing kitchen stove oven and hood. i have never used a hood before. i found a basic one with no auto clean etc for under 1k ELBA ETERNO EH-E9122ST(BK). what are some of the must-have features of a hood? my budget is around 1k max. i have an opening next to the cooking area to vent the hood. i do medium amount of cooking with minimum deep frying.

just buy the highest cfm you can afford. and must be ducted.

no need autoclean, but look for easy to dismantle metal plates. dont buy anything plastic eg oil collector
no need carbon filter if its ducted. carbon only for recycled air
buy simple on off switch. not fancy hand gesture or touch buttons
