The McD statement doesn't mention anything about his son though. Only him being an arse and Karen at the counter. So who's lying here?

I believe McD story more than his. They have a reputation to maintain, and lies could irreparably damage their brand if not handled properly. McD won't just say "deeply disappointed" and then lodge police report if they are not totally certain that's what happened.

The guy went full Karen and asked McD to charge for the sauces. Fearing for their safety, the servers went ahead.
