The biggest competitor would be Continental brand.. KTM 790, 890 BMW F900 GS, F850 GS Triumph T850, 900 Not Suzuki Pstorm 800 DE Remember many Malaysian buy big bike for the prestige, not actual usage... that's why BMW sells a lot of GS, even with the fact 95% of the owner never bring it for off-road.. but it sells since its BMW.. bragging rights is there LOL... I think the bike that you mentioned are all using chain except GS 1200 which is using shaft... probaly shaft last linger?KTM 790, 890 BMW F900 GS, F850 GS Triumph T850, 900 Not Suzuki Pstorm 800 DE Remember many Malaysian buy big bike for the prestige, not actual usage... that's why BMW sells a lot of GS, even with the fact 95% of the owner never bring it for off-road.. but it sells since its BMW.. bragging rights is there LOL... |

If maintained properly, possible up to 100k KM no issue however, in Malaysia (again) 1. Some GS Rider think they ride a superbike instead ADV bike.. GS never meant to ride extensively 180 to 220 kmph all the way to border or beyond. This stressing all the drive system ranging from the clutch, gearing until shaft. 2. And some of the service Center didn't do proper maintenance service (sloppy) and it causes certain cases the shaft jammed/broken due to lack of lubrication or water slippage due to improper installation of the rubber cover. |

QUOTE(Patent @ Sep 30 2023, 02:01 PM) the gs is definitely capable to go off road Went to a beach and rode my Tiger in the sand before, just to see what the fuss was about. Walao eh... no more!!!!! I really didn't have the skills for it and I was simply not prepared to keep dropping and lifting the heavy bike up multiple times.i've seen some from my friends circle that like do off road but not many dare la to drop bike that expensive.. not to mention the weight A lightweight 125cc scrambler would be far better for this stuff! I'll stick to the tarmac, simple trails and gravel roads at the most. For a bike intended for commuting and touring, that's plenty for me already. Not even going to pretend I need a Dakar bike... |

QUOTE(ZZR-Pilot @ Oct 22 2023, 03:26 PM) Actually the 790 Adv has a nice low seat height, which makes it easy to like the bike for a 5'6" guy like me. Not only that. The split side tanks also very low CoG. Great for shorter people like us.Too bad it's 85k. 90+ with options. The 790Adv R is very tall though. |
