KUALA LUMPUR: Both pilots in the doomed Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) which crashed in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam last month, had no health issues, revealed the Elmina Aircrash Report released by the Transport Ministry today.

The report said while the pilot in command (PIC) and second in command (SIC) had succumbed to multiple injuries in the crash, but evidence indicated that both individuals did not suffer from cockpit incapacitation.

"Hence, the hypothesis of medical causative and contributing factors to this accident may be discounted," the report said.

On witness account, the PIC was reported to be well the night before the accident on Aug 17, and a witness also said the PIC had good rest before the flight departed from Langkawi.

"Both the PIC and SIC held valid medical cetificates from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM)."

The important part is at page 25:-

Note: Initial analysis of the recovered CVR recording has provided critical leads to uncovering the cause of the accident, with a focus on the aircraft flight control systems. Results from the pending inspection and examination of the related aircraft parts and components at the NTSB and OEM laboratories are necessary to provide collaborative and/or conclusive evidence in establishing the cause of the accident.

Probably got, but the more important one is the Flight Data Recorder (FDR), which records what happened in those 2 minutes after clearance was given.

Since the weather was good and no medical or health related issues, the focus would be on the plane itself.

Page 8 of the report: There was no Flight Data Recorder (FDR) installed in the aircraft.

Page 12: Initial transcription of the CVR recording has been completed and analysis of the audio files is in progress at the time of issue of this Preliminary Report. Transcripts from the cockpit voice recording shall be included in the Final Report only when essential to the analyses and understanding of the accident.

Then its even more understandable why it's gonna take almost a year to check..... meaning they have to go for the source themselves.

60 pages of preliminary report read. whistling.gif Extensive impact damage. Not much left intact. Not easy to pinpoint the root cause of the crash if it's due to mechanical issue.

It might take years to conclude...
