Radeon in overseas selling rx7800xt cheap at rtx4060ti price. Saw news here stated rx7800xt at rm2.5k cheaper than rtx4070 entry level rm2.8k. When comes to actual price at shop, will it end up being more expensive?

Just like rx6800 back then, end up being sold like premium GPU collecting dust. Local always like to cut throat on pretext of plotek their existing stocks, can set own price without follow market value like house price

Won't be cheaper as Radeons are price skewed outside of USA. This what Techspot(HUB) has stated:
"Then there's pricing and right now the US MSRP is heavily in AMD's favor. The Radeon 7800 XT is $100 more affordable, a comfortable position that translates to a significant 17% discount. This makes the Radeon GPU the obvious choice in our opinion as it offers a lot more value.

However, this might not hold true universally. Outside of the US, the Radeon's pricing can be less competitive. For example, in Australia you can easily purchase an RTX 4070 for $890 AUD, whereas the most affordable 7800 XT costs just $10 less at $880 AUD. So, the 7800 XT and RTX 4070 occupy the same price point in Australia and this is true for many other regions we checked.

To be a more attractive purchase outside the US, the Radeon 7800 XT should be priced at least 10% lower than the RTX 4070. It's disappointing to see the 7800 XT offering great value in the US but not as much in most other regions. We hope this is just an early availability issue and pricing will correct shortly."

Looking at gaming benchmark, the rx7800xt beats 4070 in most games. Local shops will find this a threat to their existing 4070 stocks and will set their own price higher than 4070 as higher end product in between 4070 and 4070ti. Not the first time they do this, all sellers already kamching on pricing.

Many batch 1 products are marked up. Its not just 7800 XT. They expect early adopters to buy it fast.

When 1070 & 1080, 2070 & 2080 released, they were priced reasonable. Gtx980 was raised to max on purpose before being phased out. GPU price always cheaper when released before sellers started using currency weaken and stock shortage as excuse to increase price.

Dont hope on that. AMD Msia is smoking strong weed that makes them think their Radeons are hot shits while they continue to rot on the shelfs. In USA, RX family are priced down one tier vs Nvidia RTX ie 6700XT priced cheaper than 3060TI but here it is still as expensive as a 3070.

And this stupidity continues with 7000series, while Nvidia took a backseat with 4000series AMD actually match them in product stagnation but for the saving grace of lowering their GPU family price point ie 7800XT is one tier below vs 6800XT.

If rx7800xt is priced too close to rtx4070, I'll go for 4070 because more power saving, don't mind the few fps less

RTX brand image is strong here even if 4070 loses FPS in nearly all games (except RT) the brand power meant it will be pricier than 7800XT.

Patient games still will lose out as Nvidia/AMD/Intel have found new demand post-mining with the rise of AI. With even AMD seemingly preference for big Navi to be used as AI chip rather than coming out a 4090 competitor, dont hope for prices to come down anymore. Even lowyat shops seems to be financially strong enuff to hold onto stocks collecting dust on their shelfs rather than dropping prices.

If want to buy GPU, buy now while RTX 3000series / RX6000series are still got stocks.

Yes, mainly because of more stocks, renowned brands like MSI, Gigabyte, Asus don't have many Radeon GPU and also Nvidia more power saving. I had bad experience with radeon where few games can't play on radeon led to abnormal crash back then. Already switched to green team

The RTX 4070 is far superior to any AMD graphics card for AI because Nvidia CUDA is very well supported relative to the equivalent AMD ROCm. This is probably the reason for the more expensive Nvidia cards in the US because hobbyist generative AI is most likely more popular there. From the threads here, there doesn't seem to be that much interest in hobbyist AI here compared to games. For me, my RTX 4070 is not even connected to a monitor as I find my old GTX 1060 enough for my simple gaming needs (Civ 6, VCMI (open source re-implementation of Heroes 3)). The RTX 4070 is solely for generative AI and maybe ML in the future.

When you say "on a budget" exactly how much you willing to spend?

already purchased but appreciate the heads up.

that said the 4070 super got roasted on youtube hmm.gif by multiple reviewers. there is even a comparison between it and the 7800 XT vs 4070 super.

for anyone else wanting to buy a gpu right now, this helped

in this example i am using an AMD 5600X, so the max recommendation is a RX 7800 XT.

Interestingly if you forward to the next slide, if i upgrade from a 5600X to a 7600/7600X i will get a 25% fps boost

user posted image

For now i will just see what fps i can get, if i'm ok with it, i'll just save my money. If not, i may consider upgrading the cpu, considering the youtuber indicated a 25% fps gain for doing so.

that said i also noticed this Ryzen 7 5700X3D which is a good AM4 upgrade

https://gamersnexus.net/cpus/new-amd-ryzen-...vs-5800x3d-more

https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/compare_cpu-a...d_ryzen_5_7600x

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-R.../m1817839vs4130

that said have to compare the price between that and the recommendation from youtube posted. And match the GPU to the appropriate CPU for as little bottleneck for FPS as possible (in my case i do seem to be cpu bottle necked by 25% apparently)

For cpu may be willing to spend 1-2k but rather not if i don't have to. this is why i want to test first. According to the reviewer the current 5600X i am using will drive it just fine hmm.gif
