I am driving a Toyota Vios 2021 and its 2 years in, clocking in on 40k KM already. The threads are almost gone so its time to change them, just done my service today btw sweat.gif

Some of my requirements
- Love driving fast (on highway, sometimes reaching 180 km/h)
- Prefer less tyre noise

Which one would you guys recommend ya? I'm considering Michelin XM2, seems like a very popular option.

And also any recommendations on where to buy?

Thanks in advanced.

XM2 more for comfort. PS 3 4 5 is best to meet your requirement.
Alternative option Goodyear F1 Asymmetric, or Toyo Proxes Sport (cheaper, more noisy)

BTW what tire size your using? How we gonna recommend if no tire size list out. Vios got 15 & 16" sport rim leh..

https://www.tyrereviews.com/Article/2023-Ty...r-Tyre-Test.htm

If you love driving fast, should look for UHP tires.

XM2 only can provide comfort & long life span, the rest better look others.

What's the difference between PS 3 4 5 ya? Would they be comforting to drive as well?

Price, age and availability. Otherwise is always manufacturers claim of % improvement.
Personal experience, PS is the best goto consumer tyres for handling+ comfort+ less noise.
Also it is priced higher and wear out faster then GY F1.
Of late I turn to Toyo for budget consciousness.

LOL! XM2... Hahahaha. One of the worst tyres for driving fast & in the rain.
Go for Pilot Sport series, provided got size for your rims.

Primacy price is not that far off PS5, so why not go all the way. Primacy does perform very close to PS series but only when you are driving sensibly. The braking and cornering for example is not on par with PS. Since you like to drive fast, might as well go all the way and protek other roadusers.

I am too 2021 vios and was thinking to exchange 4 tyres.
How about spare tyre? It will be aged 3 years old by nw and will be getting aged if you not using it or replace it.

How long is a period of time to keep as a spare tyre?

Toyota Vios original 16in is using either 195/50/R16 or 185/55/R16 tires.
If not mistaken Michelin only got XM2+ tires only. No PS3,4,5 series for this size.

Another option is upgrade the size to 205/45/R16, this got PS3 series but you need to consider your sport rim width.
https://www.michelin.com.my/auto/browse-tyr.../205/45/16/87/W
https://tiresize.com/tiresizes/205-45R16.htm
Min Sport Rim width need Wheel : 16" x 6.5-7.5"

As usually original sport rim is very thin/less width to support bigger tires. Just imagine your current small feet (sport rim width) wearing a big oversize shoe, how the effect when running fast?

1st confirm sport rim width, if within 6.5-7.5" width than can upgrade 205/45/R16

2nd consider upgrading wider sport rim or bigger size like 17" and use 205/40/R17 tires, this got PS5 tire option

He prefers less tyre noise too. PS is louder than Primacy, not as comfy as well.

Why does tyre noise still matters when he obviously said he's gonna be fast (up to 180KMH)? That wind noise gonna kill him first.

Up to him. Usually PS is about RM100 more expensive than Primacy. Go for it if you want TS, but my opinion is Primacy is sufficient.

I’m a bit of a want it all… i know how that sounds haha.

I know there isnt any perfect tyre to block noise and performant at the same time. To block noise, i think I will have to look for other aspects of the car parts.

I will go for primacy.

My tyre size is 195/50R16 but I see the options available in shopee and lazada for 195 width are

195/55R16
195/60R16

Would them fit?

Golden rule of changing different size is never exceed the 3% diameter rule. Once out of that, not only speedometer will run, fuel consumption, safety related like ABS/VSC and suspension geometry also will impact due to different tire size, car height and also tire weight.

https://tiresize.com/comparison/

Nowadays cars with all those electronic safety system are calibrate and set at manufacturer side using factory fitted tires. If your ride got ADAS system, bigger tires also will cause overall car height change and need to recalibrate the ADAS system.

A lot of tire shop dont even care about this, as in the end once paid and drive off the shop is your own risk already.

Sent for recalibration, this is where they reset the ADAS system to match the latest height.
Currently most can only be done at certified SC, maybe some glass replacement shop can do it also.

FYI, if your ride still got warranty better go outside and ask. As once SC knew you modified your ride, take pictures and submit in system gg related warranty.

Answer to you is no, xm2+ is damn old model already. Nowadays Michelin is like iPhone, damn expensive due to branding while the performance:value ratio is no good compare to competitors like Falken, Hankook, Goodyear. If you really like Michelin, then go buy but if you ask me worth or not i say no especially this low end model.

Anytime better than the old god damn xm2+

You can also ask for Falken ZE310, Maxxis HP5, Bridgestone Turanza, Kumho tires for comparison.

You can also ask for Falken ZE310, Maxxis HP5, Bridgestone Turanza, Kumho tires for comparison.

Why do you say UC7 is better than XM2+? Did you tested them? Would be really interested in the results. They are anyway from a different segment

Bro, only above 16 inch bigger size only got for certain models, especially VP4
Please confirm your tire size with respective website before asking it.

UC7 if not mistaken is for local asian market, it is consider a direct competition with XM2+, if you ask me for sure i will recommend UC7 over XM2+ as Michelin really a rip off nowadays.

Bro, your 17inch is original Vios? Still got warranty or no more? Personally if still got warranty stick to original sport rim & tire size.
I already got friend power steering warranty gone case due to change of aftermarket sport rim.
