honestly i think it 3 series will be like the old X series... if i were them i will call it HD2950pro... at around RM100-200 more than HD2900XT... to buy time and earn money to produce something better... sad.gif

QUOTE(clayclws @ Dec 14 2007, 06:58 PM)
Indeed it is. 2 cores on a single PCB. I don't know how they Crossfire or whatever that they are doing though. The scalability of performance would probably be similar to two HD3870 running in Crossfire...but I wouldn't rely on that.

1st dual-core GPU...?

QUOTE(skylinegtr34rule4life @ Dec 15 2007, 01:53 AM)
2 cards integrate 2 one just like the 7950GX2 which was a big failure? laugh.gif sweat.gif
*
err... tat's 2 pcb... like HD2600X2... i call them burgerG...

QUOTE(clayclws @ Dec 15 2007, 02:21 AM)
7950GX2 has 2 cores on 2 PCBs being connected through SLI and being sold as a single card. R680 has 2 cores on 1 PCB being connected through some kind of Crossfire. But that's not confirmed yet...
*
ooo... GX2 is SLi-ed 2 cards occupy 1 PCIe and if SLi 2 x GX2 become 4 way SLi...? then i don see any reason for 3 way SLi to waste such space and power... rclxub.gif

It seems tat ATI might be the 1st but the idea goes back pretty far behind since Gigabyte's 3D1... or further back...
but i got this...

CF and SLi is really really not worth doing since major games don fully support SLi and CF... summo must spend on PSU... shakehead.gif

Who told you that you need 800w to run CF? Even 3 way SLi ultra still pull under 800w from the wall outlet.
*
if u r talking bout CF wif 2900 & 3870 series... u need 6+8 pins power connectors only can get optimal performance... and 8 pin connectors only 800W and above got... rite...? unsure.gif

dark side does not mean negative or not good la . acuatly the dark side of Jedi is more powerful.  biggrin.gif

anyway majority ppl peffer Nvidia which i doono why . maybe is the benchmark score or the Nvidia logo in the games .
*
yes... the dark side is more powerful in anycase at all... nVidia is prefered because nVidia paid many game developers especially EA to optimize their games for nVidia cards... which makes games run better on nVidia...

but in term of "RAW power GPU power" ATI got'em all...

I still can't figure out why I can't turn on anti-aliasing on my Sapphire 3850. Could it be because of my PSU (Gigabyte SuperB 460w)?
All games work smoothly without AA on (AA off in game & CCC settings).

err... did u untick the "use-application settings" box...? hmm.gif

Asus blitz formula which has both cards running at x8 got quite a performance gain compare with p35's 16x/4x.

While both cards at x16 on x38 is only slightly better than blitz formula running x8 on both cards
*
speaking of which... is the (slight) performance gain worth the money paid...? unsure.gif
