I'm having a problem with my Sapphire HD3850. Everytime I turn on anti-aliasing, the game crashes (any game), even after changing the AA setting in the control center.

Does anyone know what is the problem?

Did you OC, some people have that issue when you OC or push your GPU.
And maybe is the PSU is not supplying enough power.

it could AA conflict with the game...

disabled AA in Catalyst Control Center (CCC) and enabling those AA in in-game setting icon_idea.gif, or you can try disabled all AA in in-game settings and enabling them in CCC icon_idea.gif

yeah, I've tried that already. AA still cannot work.

I've never overlocked before and the card is still new.
Maybe its like what DevilMan said, the PSU cannot supply enough power.
I'm using a Gigabyte SuperB 460w PSU. All games work smoothly without any problems though.
Could this be the problem?

If your games work without AA i doubt its an issue with the PSU. Try disabling adaptive anti aliasing in CCC. And you can download Everest and post your voltage and temps idle and load.

adaptive anti aliasing was disabled, everything is actually on default setting. I'll get Everest later and post the results.

It happens to me when I push the card OC around 870 core.
Everything went well except when you run AA. I beleive with this setting on it pushes the GPU harder
voltage increases and strain the card.

What user can do is download your card and try again. See what happens.
Same like 2900xt, psu cant cope up the gpu downclock itself.

So you're saying it is the psu? my card has always been on default clock speed.

I still can't figure out why I can't turn on anti-aliasing on my Sapphire 3850. Could it be because of my PSU (Gigabyte SuperB 460w)?

I've ran some tests on my computer:

stats : idle - load
Vcore : 1.10V - 1.31V
+12V : 12.16V - 12.03V
+5V : 4.97V - 5.00V
+3.3V : 3.26V - 3.26V
CPU : 42°C - 58°C
GPU : 45°C - 72°C
MB : 36°C - 36°C

Are the readings ok?

All games work smoothly without AA on (AA off in game & CCC settings).

you readings are fine, i doubt that it has something to do with your power support or voltage readings though..

I don't know what to do already, I guess I'll just have to wait until someone figure it out.

y don u juz untick it...? unsure.gif

if I untick it then my PC will crash (black screen then normal then black screen then normal again and again), I'll need to click the discard botton for it to be ok again. As long as AA is on then it is not ok.

The Sapphire HD3850 256MB and 512MB version has different cooling. Which cooling method is better? The passive cooling or the heatsink fan one?
