140km/day commute. EVERY DAY.

I suggest getting something more comfortable.

The zx25r is a good bike. But probably not suitable for this instance. It's a high strung motor....fun to wind it up in the corners or straights...
But very weak bottom end torque when riding on the street.

You are not that far off from a z650. Price difference is 2k. Also with traction control, abs etc. The Kawa twin is a known reliable unit and good on fuel. It's not too heavy and have a more relaxed riding ergonomics.

yeah but this is the cheapest 4 inline available. there's more options if second hand 4 inline bike.

Completely understand the appeal of a 4 cyc.

But the sacrifice in comfort gets old very quickly given the mileage you intend to do.....especially with a "supersport" riding position on the zx25r....that and having to wind the bike up past 8000rpm to get anywhere can really wear you out. I used to own a fzr 400 4 pot....fun toy but it's very weak under 8k rpm. Definitely get tapau by the new twin 650s.

If you have the budget, consider the z900. I am also looking at that or the versys 650 as a supplement to my Dominar 400 for longer distance travel. I will be keeping the dominar for city commute and light off roading.

You can't beat the weight, power, stability and comfort of a bigger bike for highway riding. A light, agile, flicky sportsbike makes for a very nervous highway bike.

save money and get the ninja 1000sx or suzuki s1000gt brows.gif

That's a HUGE jump.... Lol.

That's more than another whole zx25r. I feel the s1000gt is easier to manage though. AND comes with panniers.

The 1000sx feels very heavy....having a taller seat height dont help either. Modeski is not bringing in ANY of the fitted luggage for any of its bikes.... Which is a major oversight.

just ditch the qjmotor tbh, finding secondhand z900 is the best choice with your budget currently

dont fall for the brembo sweets they put on the qjmotor, nissin brake is just as good for our road  laugh.gif

also the srk600rc is pretty disappointing for a sportbike, too heavy at 225kg and not even 100hp
they just slap the same engine from srk600 and put on a different coverset
I found that adding handlebar riser for sporty-naked bike like z250, gsx-s750 can improve the riding position to be more upright
Doesn't even need much to add, just about 1 inch of height and it feels like a different bike

Assuming your cables/hoses and wiring are long enough. If you are lucky, you get enough slack. If not, that relatively cheap upgrade ends up costing you a lot more. I'm looking at you, Kawa z900.

I have 1" risers on my dominar, makes hell a lot of difference. I also have put on a 2.5" headlamp/binacle riser as well...much better lighting throw/distance and also raised the windshield without having putting a taller windshield or a extender.

As for the brakes. I have no problem with even the old style nissin axial brakes on the base z900 (the SE get brembo radial brakes). Plenty of stopping power for the street.

My Katana actually makes for a really nice daily commute bike because of the santai riding position, but you'll get pissed off keep having to refuel so often laugh.gif

Hell I dont think 13L is even enough for my single cyc 373cc bike....how the hell did Suzuki think is that enough for a litre bike?

The newer z900 might have a problem with riser because tft screen over the handlebar but the old one with lcd should be fine I guess? Similar dashboard with latest z250

There are other options..like changing to a high rise handlebar. But for the z900, the cables/hoses are too short.

Long distance also sure will stop and have a break ma, just refuel at everytime you take a break lor laugh.gif
How many km you get from it?

On my dominar, the low fuel light comes on early with about 2.5-3L of fuel remaining, so for my usual fill up is 20rm or about 9.6L (published tank size is 13L)

At speed about 160-170km@10L (130-140kmh cruising with some "Italian tune up" bursts up to 160) highway
Taken at a more pedestrian pace, 220km@10L

Highway at speed is a bit annoying though. I can't make it back to Ipoh from KL without the fuel light flashing after tapah. I can certainly do a 2 hour ride without stopping if not for the range anxiety once the fuel warning lights up.

Now I just do 110-120 just to make it back without stopping for fuel. Factor in time spent fueling up, there is no time saving by going faster.

That said, I was hoping the Dominar was a bit more frugal on fuel though, given it's a single cyc.
