Any gold shop will take it.

From what i experienced, usually the weight X current price and then deduct 15-25% as they wont be paying 100% for profit.

And people still say gold is good investment.

Jewellery is bad for investment
Gold bars and bullion are good for investment.

I have been holding gold since 2002.
CAGR is around 11% for gold investment.

You have to compare this with FD. Example the same amount of money you put in FD for the same period, what is the value now? Cannot just look at absolute numbers. Even if gold is higher than FD, question is, is it higher than other easily available investment option?

What is the cost of holding the gold? SDB rental, etc?

From my experience vs FD,since 2002 11% CAGR for gold and approx 5% for FD.
I use FD vs gold because basically you don't need to manage them. Safe box cost is negligible unless you are holding few hundred kgs! laugh.gif

I generally do compare cost in all ways. If indeed one is getting 11% return, that is good. What i want to say is comparing absolute numbers is meaningless considering other alternatives.

I personally feel SDB cost should be factored in unless it has been there eirher way. If you hold 100g of gold, sdb cost is example rm400 per year, there is a fixed % cost yearly. Not alot but still cost. Vs FD, really no cost.
If you intend on buying just 100g of gold, i would not consider that an investment! laugh.gif
