Give TS friend the benefit of doubt that whatever reason was important enough to justify the risk lorr. Maybe need to pay for loan that defaulted long enough for bank to initiate reclamation procedures leh? Kinda sucks if you had been paying off a car or home for many years but defaulted few months because of tough times and it gets towed/repossessed.

EDIT: That being said, hope TS friend learns from this mistake.
