South east Asia is defined by the political boundaries of it's constituent countries, of which Myanmar & Indonesia both definitely are.

You could discount West Papua by saying it's not traditionally part of SEA, but how can you do the same for Myanmar?

Myanmar has always been more politically, linguistically and ethnically related to SEA than India

It's only because of British occupation via India that Myanmar ended up lumped into South Asia
