Hahaha.. I appreciate the honest and candid assessment! I'm local (still a Malaysian) and my palate is obviously very Malaysian, so I was hoping that Michelin would have taken that into consideration when they awarded their stars, but judging from your comment, the guide may have just been another shiok sendiri gegosok bebird moment for the Ang Mohs.... Have you tried any of their Michelin starred places yet?

I purposely go try the so called Michelle 1star putien restaurant at gurney. It was good but other place also same as good
I never will understand why they can get star.others don't.

We just came back from dinner at Putien tonight.

Won’t be trying that in a hurry anytime soon.

For me, Sg restaurants are top class. Malaysia street food is stop class. Eating at a fancy place actually stressed me out as I need to dress eat and behave in a certain way. The different sizes of cutleries confuse me as well. I just need a spoon a knife and a fork max. 😁

Thank you! To be honest, at restaurants like Les Amis, Odette and/or Zen, they place the cutlery for you at the start of every course - and for the canapés, they even recommend how best to eat it with your fingers: one whole bite, or 2 separate bites.

It’s stress free… except when it comes to paying the bill hahaha

paying bill would be the less stressful for me cause it's expected.

That’s the bill for today’s lunch… worth every penny






Just a selection of the food on offer today. Lots and lots of caviar and the most juicy Wagyu tenderloin steak this side of town. The langoustine and the blue lobster were delicious - and the first photo, with the pomme de terre, that’s a Les Amis signature.

All in, a good lunch.

They look super good. Glad you and wife enjoyed it. I see they also take pride in decorating their food.

Yes ... it was a 4 course meal, but we added extras as you can see from the bill (the supplements & the additional "potato caviar" - in actual fact, we added the blue lobster as an extra, but they charged us the cheaper "pomme de terre" since we are regulars. Quite nice of them to do so.

The desserts ... by this time, we were struggling to fit anything else in our tummies.
