It's like an international area, administered by Norway. Even Norwegians need visa to go to Svalbard

Malaysians do not need Schengen visa, but for those nationalities that do, they need multiple entry because going to Svalbard and back means re-entering Schengen again

Svalbard airport is very small. Flights a few times a week, only a few people working there. Same guy at checkin counter and handling baggage arrivals

It's so small that the airport bus drops you directly at the hotel because there are just that few hotels there
