As I recall, Secure2U was already enabled on M2U app some time back.

Now they have removed it from M2U and put it to MAE.

So ALL Maybank customers are now forced to use MAE.

Who in BNM allowed this to happen? Why was Maybank allowed to "bait and switch" the Secure2U app from M2U to MAE?

It's really troublesome.

The truth is M2U app is using ancient platform and MAE is supposedly modern platform. Maybank has abused the directive from BNM to use app based authorisation to en masse switch its customers from old to new platform.

They must be severely punished for this bullshit.

What bullshit are you harping on? Technologies change over time, most banking apps don't even support older Android or iOS versions, so obviously the need to upgrade. The mandate of BNM to all banks is to improve the security for online banking, and that possibly includes forcing use of more secure approaches or technology upgrades.

After M2U app also still get scam
Do you want to continue to use incompetent bank and app ?

So the came up with MAE to replace M2U
You should complain why banks do not track down scammers
After all scammers can target customers, why banks cant defend customers?
Its been decades this rich bank do nothing but blame customers.

See how much their CEO salary, and compare to number of scam cases.

Hong Leong also shit bank. Did transfer for housing loan using app for 1yr already, suddenly need to register something like secure2u to approve transfer but never inform that, and app never say anything AND yet money transferred.

After few days then only money credited back. Tried to transfer again (still dunno need the app authorisation thingy), this time money no come back.

Complain then only found out about approval needed to do transfer, so I ask, if approval is needed to transfer money where did my money go then since I didn't approve transfer.

Hong Leong went to investigate and then after 2 days of chasing, they said it went to my kid's account (which was not registered in the app. What????!!!!!!!) So I have to go to a branch to transfer the money back to my main account, then do the transfer to loan account with the secure2u thingy.

Yay, this case HL more shit than catbank.

Does Hong Leong have a better app?

To my knowledge, Maybank has the best one around. Their QR code scanner is helluva impressive and the best around.

I prefer my banking apps simple. I can transfer money on the fly with Hong leong and sometimes my ocbc.

Maybank from the get go you open the app it's filled with useless stuff like spin or points Ala shopee.

I use banking... Well for banking. Not for an app that mimics shoppee. I fucking hate it

I also have OCBC and I'm not a huge fan of it. MAE is actually much simpler for me to use to make quick transfers to friends (like for splitting bills), pay bills, and e-wallet transactions. OCBC app is inferior in those tasks.

But yes, I do get your point about the adverts and the bloat if you don't happen to use the additional functions.

All the banking functions are right there when you open the app right? Those useless stuff are at the bottom and need scroll down. Personally they never bother me because I never scroll down lel.

for the past few months, i non-stop encounter issue to reset password. it starts with a usual face recognition login to Mae app, then fail to login then came out notification say something like app down/not working right now or need to unlink m2u. once i clock okay on it or something, then reset password for m2u. for more than 10 years i used m2u but never reset password. but this year itself, becuz of this mae app glitch, i reset at least 6-7 times. anyone know why or experiencing same thing? i already deleted the old m2u app, only left with Mae app in my phone. think next time i should take a screenshot and lodge a proper report.

PBB lagi mafan. Got a new phone recently. Yesterday I just realised I didnt switch the secure sign from old phone to new phone. Proceeded to switch. Got this message below. My other banks just imposed cooling period after switching to new phone. PBB takes it a step further.

It’s normal for all banks in MY, hence auto renew definitely fall under board rate instead of promo/campaign rate etc.

from back end perspective, it's 2 different app, likely coded by different team, but running on same database.
maybank will wan to force every user to MAE cuz wanna phase out old app, less maintenance work & cost.

for me, moving to a new app is not an issue.
issue is the MAE app feels inferior to M2U.
M2U design is more clean, theme is more easy on the eye. while MAE hav promotional ads/banner, & overall UI design that seems older.
so it feels a bit of a downgrade.
also, M2U app was designed in line with the browser M2U.
UI is similar & giv user a more consistence experience while MAE feels like that weird child that no 1 wanted.

You can report to Bank Negara here.
https://www.bnm.gov.my/consumer-info/complaints

Just FYI, before Maybank can make the switch of their Secure2U app to the MAE app, they would have had to gotten BNM approval first (takes 21 working days). So yes, BNM has approved it and you can still report it if you want.

rhb and ocbc app still support android 8

for uob msia they even require android 10 which even higher than their sinkie HQ app's android 8

its nothing to do with bank negara but simply decided by some talking cock project manager (sad excuse for a bank so-called head of security)

Good la. Imagine your phone got hacked or stolen and someone have access to your mae app. You want them to be able to adjust your limit via mae and approve any transactions themselves via secure2u in Mae too?
By segregating, it will minimise losses in case this happen

If your daily limit is low, say 1k a day. They can only transfer max 1k/day. Minimise losses. If you loss 30k, that means u never check your bank/account for 30 days, very unlikely

Unfortunately still don't have.

Not only that, now even need to wait 12 hours cooling period if want to increase the limit.

That 12 hours is really inconvenient, but I guess they had to implement because of all the not-so-smart people transferring money when getting scammed. I have all my limits set low for all my cards and accounts, so have to plan well ahead if there are going to be any substantial payments due.
