When booking a "hotel", it would be more secure if you book the hotel under Hotel Association HK. Please read the following news just happened today :
http://hk.news.yahoo.com/080618/318/2vyh3.html

The link is not workable anymore. May I know what happened?

icon_question.gifI can't make up my mind..

Arrival Date/Time: 27/04/2009, Monday (1310)
Departure Date/Time: 05/05/2009, Tuesday (1750)

- Total around 9 days.
- 4 adults.
- Both departure and arrival will be in Macau airport.
- Plan to stay in Kowloon area in HK.
- HK will take up around 4-5 days.

I intend to go for the following routes options:
CODE
Macau airport -> Ferry terminal -> HK (via First Ferry)
HK -> Shenzhen (via MTR/bus/ferry, whichever is reasonably time/cost-effective)
Shenzhen -> Macau (is ferry the only option?)

CODE
Macau airport -> Ferry terminal -> Shenzhen (via Turbojet)
Shenzhen -> HK (via MTR/bus/ferry, whichever is reasonably time/cost-effective)
HK -> Macau (via First Ferry)

Should I explore Macau for the 1st day then only leave for HK/Shenzhen on the 2nd day noon time or once I reach Macau then leave for HK/Shenzhen and come back to explore Macau on the 8th and 9th day?

Is Guangzhou and Zhuhai worth visiting? I have only approximately 9 days for HK/SZ/MCU. Do you think I still have extra time for either 1 of the places?

I've been to Ocean Park and Window of the World in 1997. Just want to confirm, Ocean Park has a major renovation and it's worth visiting again? How about Window of the World? If it's the same thing, I might just stay in SZ to shop lol. tongue.gif

Hmm in the midst of planning my itinery then only I'm able to figure out my accomodation.

Opinions please~

Thanks in advance. notworthy.gif

Hello everyone~

I'll be staying in Dragon Hostel for my upcoming trip to HK. I'll also pay a visit to ShenZhen. Just wanna confirm, is it within walking distance from Dragon Hostel to Mong Kok East station to catch the train to Lo Wu station? Or should I take MTR from Mong Kok station to Kowloon Tong station then only interchange to the Lo Wu train?

Yes, you can walk from Dragon Hostel to Mong Kok East station. About 15mins walking distance. When will you depart? I will try to draw a map for you on google map, but it is down and I can't make a map now, I'll post it up later when it's back to normal...
Oh thank you so much! I'll be departing on end of April.. So still plenty of time. Just in the midst of planning my itinerary.

Oh thanks for the comments~

Yeah, the Disneyland day gives me a bit of headache. Many people in this thread mentioned that half a day is already enough, including my colleague also. Haha she said she walk walk walk.. Then ei? Back to entrance already. Oh whole park covered already.

I was thinking maybe I will go to Tung Chung first then only head to Disneyland around 1300.

I'm now replying to this post from HK. icon_rolleyes.gif

Please remember to bring your jacket/wind breaker here, especially if you are going to The Peak. I was shivering while trying to take a nice pic up there lol. It gets quite cold at night as well.

Any Picture For Ur Dragon Hostel Stay?

How Much Per Night?
*

I've snapped some photos of my room in Dragon Hostel. Will post up tonight.

My rate was HK$420/night for a room with 4 beds and private bathroom. It's a really tiny room. However if you don't mind the room size, it's a good choice of budget hostel. Most importantly, it's very clean!

I will answer what's best to my knowledge. The rest you have to wait for Northasian/other forumers.

QUOTE(b|ue @ May 10 2009, 02:01 AM)
1. Can we seek refund if I’m not able to finish the HKD100 value prepaid?
2. Should we get our Disneyland tickets from the airport?
3. What's the traveling time to Tung Chung from Prince Edward MTR?
4. Should visit Disneyland or Citygate first if both are arranged for the same day?
5. What is the popular food which people use to bring out of country (besides egg tarts)?
6. What is the MTR’s operating hours?
*

1. Yes. You will receive remaining balance + deposit - HKD7.

2. If i were you, i would get it from the airport. But please check weather forecast for that day first.

3. Around 30 minutes. Please refer to http://www.mtr.com.hk

4. For your shopping tour to Citygate, i don't think that 9:30 - 12:30 is enough. You should be aware that lots of shops open only at 10:30am onwards. And you wouldn't want to carry all your shopping bags around in Disneyland. So you may go to Disneyland first then leave early to Citygate. But take note that you would have to miss the fireworks at 7:30pm (if there is any). My arrangement was Disneyland 1 day and Citygate another day. For more info: http://www.citygateoutlets.com.hk/index.html

5. I guess it's the egg rolls from Kei Wah Bakery. My colleague from HK brought that over. But don't put in luggage even if it's the metal tin cos i did that and half of mine were ruined.. only half were still in good shape. sweat.gif

6. http://www.mtr.com.hk/eng/train/service_hours.html

Enjoy your trip!

Day 7: Disneyland (if energy level permits, will cover city gate. What time is the disney firework? heard that it only starts at 9pm)

I am just wandering, usually would the hotel charge us when we leave our luggages in the hotel while we travel to Macau?
*

Remember to bring umbrella to St Paul and Senado Square haha. When i was there it was so so so sunny.. Almost dehydrated. tongue.gif But i'm not sure about the weather in Nov.

When i was there the Disney fireworks started at 7:30pm but the website says 8pm. Maybe before you leave to HK, check the website again or reconfirm with the staff there. http://park.hongkongdisneyland.com/hkdl/en...90522&tab=24519

Different hotels have different policies on luggage placement. Some hotels do charge if you put luggage overnight but some don't. I think you gotta confirm with the hotel. Or maybe some forumers here stayed in your hotel before can answer your question.

just wanna ask .. is it possible to come back from macau at 4pm? and go to the ave of stars?

Yes, since the ferry terminal is also at TST. The journey from Macau to HK takes around 1 hour.

QUOTE(jocsp @ Oct 24 2009, 02:09 PM)
Hi people,

I need some help.. I am still deciding whether I should go to Macau or Guangzhou..

I have 5 days to spend.. I want to fully utilise these 5 days that I have.. Therefore, I would like to know which place is more interesting in terms of shopping and sight-seeing..

I am quite interested in visiting Guangzhou but I think it is not so convenient to travel to HK from there and it requires visa right if I am not mistaken? As for Macau, it is easier for me to travel to HK from Macau as compared to Guangzhou.

Please let me know if you have any good hotels in these two places to recommend

Would appreciate if anyone could help me out smile.gif
*

Yes, you need to apply for Visa to China. RM30 for 1-time entry.

Since you have only 5 days and if you really intend to go China, i would suggest you to go Shenzhen instead of Guangzhou. Guangzhou is quite big and there are a lot of places worth visiting, so i think 1-2 days is not enough (assuming you will cover HK & Guangzhou in 5 days). You may go to Shenzhen via Luohu, which is very near to HK and you can reach there by MTR. If you are going to Luohu, you may try out Days Inn. It's very spacious and personally i think that the rate is reasonable.

As for Macau, not much of shopping here. Mostly sight-seeing, gambling and food. Visa is not needed here and 1 day is enough. I don't recommend Metropark Macau. Staff kinda rude and room is quite old.
