QUOTE(babygirl55 @ Oct 8 2009, 09:41 AM)
hi all,
I am going for a 5D 4N Macau Experience on 26 Oct. I am planning to go to HK for one day by ferry.
1) What if i need to buy "Tourist Day 1 day unlimited" or Octupus card in MRT train?
2) Do Ladies street sell cheap clothes n bags? how much? eg. NIKE/LV

I went to Mid Valley yesterday to exchange currency but they have only HK$1000. Not hv small notes. Wonder why? Where i can change small notes?

Thanks.
*
Octupus card (not sure whether is it the name in English) in MRT train is better.. as you can use it to go up The peak..no need to q

Ladies street are just like our Petaling street.. i didn't ask the prices coz i am not interested on those stuff they are selling (mostly china goods)

Nike shoes or other shoes u can go to Bo Hai Gai

I changed my money at Sg Wang..Got small change.. HK1k note still ok..coz when u purchase for ur card at airport or mrt, it will cost u HK150 then u can get small change edi

Grab it at Hotel.com

Or

E-mail to the hotel and ask for that price, try your luck.

(3 days ago, another hotel booking site quoted Traders KL for USD 39, turn out it was a mistake by Traders, but Traders honored all the bookings)

Too late, gone!  They've realised their mistake.  It was on 5th Oct.

So, now for the above mentioned Dorsett Seaview, who knows could also be a "mistake"?  After reading, I also checked on hotels.com, from USD 43-59, very good price for HK hotel ah...

From/to Macau to/from Hong Kong by ferry, does it require passport for the arrival/departure.
Is there always a long queue at the immigration counter?

Thanks
*
Yes. You need. The Q is still acceptable during normal time..around 5people ahead of you

If you go on peak season, then sure longer Q

the Tung Chung factory outlet = citigate mall ? or inside it ...
izzit close to the Peak ? (sry as all information i get on first was in Chinese, kinda blur in their english name...tongue.gif)
*
Citigate mall / tung chung factory outlet is near to Airport

very far away from The peak (what i mean is you cant walk from The peak)

u can check from google map. Type Hong Kong, then u will get a map in English and mandarin

Hi Hinika,
I didn't know that's a dolphin village near the area. Will definitely check on that. Yes Citygate I guess will be spending half a day there after visiting the Big Buddha.

Yea I managed to check on the museum but only some have given informations on the free visit but will definitely visit the museums to know more on HK culture.

I am lucky cause now I still have 1 month to plan. Still browsing around for alternative and on food wise we are planning to eat at random place. Too much planning might end up in a disappointment too.So we are just going on the flow but the major attractions we are planning accordingly cause hope not to meet up with the crowds during the weekends.
*
i suggest your plan your itinerary with places to visit 1st then your search for nice food near to the planned attractions.. biggrin.gif

For macau, the hotel rate on weekend stay (friday and saturday night) is much more expensive than nornal day.

Hotel Sintra is not bad

How does the CotaiJet compare to the Turbojet, if I want to go from Macau Airport to HK, which do you recommend? I heard that CotaiJet is walking distance from the airport, is this true?
*
Turbo Jet is from another Jetty which is nearer to downtown.

Cotai jet is nearer to airport and free shuttle services

I was advised to take public buses to Yuet Tung Pier to take Venetian Shuttle buses. However, I tried to google "Yuet Tung Pier" but not successful.

thank you!!! icon_question.gif

In my opinion, your itinerary a bit messy in the sense that for me, I prefer to go for one day in Kowloon and walk around the nearby area then another day at HK island then walk around the same day.. if not it will be like costing a lot for me to travel from hotel to HK island then back to Kowloon area..

I would go in the following way to cover all the attractions:
Day 1
Check in at 2pm
Have lunch at Mongkok (Kowloon - near your hotel)
Fa Yuen Street + Ladies street (Kowloon - near your hotel)
Go to Langham Shopping Mall (Kowloon - near your hotel)
Avenue of Star and Symphony of Light (Kowloon - Take MRT to TST)
Temple Street (Kowloon)

Day 2
Disneyland
The Peak in the evening (HK - you can take cab from Central till the tram station for around HKD20)

Day 3
Golden Bauhinia (HK -Wan Chai, it is just near to Wan Chai Pier of the Star Ferry)
Ngo Ping 360
Tung Chung Citygate Outlet

Day 4
Ocean Park (HK)
Lomography shop at Causeway Bay (HK)
Lan Kwai Fong (HK - Central, another option of HK night life will be Wan Chai)

Day 5
Stanley (HK)
Walk and shop around your hotel
Plane depart at 8.30pm

NP360 is the "name" of cable car, to go up to Ngong Ping Village, and see the Big Buddha.  Yes, you can go there on arrival, take bus no S1 or S56 from airport to Tung Chung Station, HKD 3.50.  I remember reading about lockers for luggage storage at Tung Chung (can't remember details, pls search yourself if required).

Do you mean if you have time to visit NP before check in?  Are you planning to go to see the Big Buddha, follow by shopping at Citygate Mall?  If so, check in can be after 2pm, just let Stanley Fan knows what time to expect you(to keep the room for you).

One suggestion re visiting Ocean Park and Golden Bauhinia Sq:
I would go to Golden Bauhina Sq in the morning, follow by Ocean Park.  From Dragon Hostel, take any bus that heads to TST ferry terminal(as display on bus) at bus stop along Nathan Road.  (may also visit AOS, just next to ferry terminal).  Take the star ferry to Wan Chai Ferry terminal, it's a short walk to the Golden Bauhinia sq.  After that, can take bus to Ocean Park.

IMO, why go from Disneyland to AOS and trying to catch the Symphony of Light show?  Do stay at Disneyland and enjoy the fireworks!

A little bit more on Stanley, it is advisable to go stanley in the Morning for its market.

There is Flag Rising Ceremony at Golden bauhinia every morning at 8a.m and it is just short walk to star ferry pier. After watching the ceremony and photo taking, just take MRT to Admiralty and there will be counter selling package for Ocean Theme Park.

Added on October 23, 2009, 9:15 amDay 1
Arrive at HKIA at 10.30am
Ngo Ping 360 -> this cable car will take around 45 mins for the trip
Check in at 2pm
Have lunch at Mongkok
Stanley --> I think it is better that you walk around your hotel and Central for you to familiarise with the environment
The Peak
Temple Street (maybe if i'm not tired) --> If you take bus from the Peak, the bus will stop at Central there, it was just a street away from Lan Kwai Fong and the famous roast goose restaurant, so it is better that you go Lan Kwai Fong after the Peak

Day 2
Disneyland --> should be 8p.m and there will be fireworks
Avenue of Star/Symphony of Light ---> I don't think you can make it
Ladies Street --> I suggest you replace this with Temple Street

Day 3
Ngo Ping 360 - > you can replace this with Golden Bauhinia then go for breakfast
Tung Chung Citygate Outlet
Langham Shopping Mall
Tung Choi Street/Fa Yuan Street(just walk around TST and Mongkok)

Day 4
Ocean Park
Lomograhy Shop at Causeway Bay
Lan Kwai Fong --> as if you have gone to Lan Kwai Fong on day 1 then you may go Wan Chai for another night life spot

Day 5
Wong Tai Sin Temple
Check out at 12pm
Walk around --> assuming you reach airport around 2p.m and you need to be in aiport at 6p.m, you got 4 hours in between, you may consider to fit in Tung Chung Citygate Outlet here then you will get more free time on day3
Depart at 8.30pm

then Day 3 you can do it like:

Stanley market
Central ( the longest escalator and go to the famous Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園))
Langham Shopping Mall
Tung Choi Street/Fa Yuan Street(just walk around TST and Mongkok)
Avenue of Star/Symphony of Light

Hey guys/girls. Im bringing my gf to HK this coming November (21st Nov - 26th Nov), need some ideas
to plan out my itinerary as this is our first time to HK. But disneyland / ocean park is definately out.

Will be staying in Hotel Mira at Tsim Sha Tsui. Bringing her there for shopping, heard harbour city is the place to
go. Other than shopping, would also like to fine dine, watch fireworks, light show etc and also trying out
the local delicacies.

All feedbacks and ideas are welcome. Thank you in advance  smile.gif

If you don't mind to read a few pages back, you can see there are a lot of itineraries that can give you some clues biggrin.gif

yes. Harbour city is good to go and shop.. depends on what kind of shopping you want to do biggrin.gif

Pls check for me whether is HK's KFC still selling the delicious Wasabi flavor of fried chicken!! drool.gif

if not, mayb will put it in day 3..

emm...i have thought b4 to have a walk around dragon hostel instead of stanley..
but, the peak and stanley in the same area, so i just put tat together..tongue.gif
btw, do u think it's ok if i visit ngo ping 360 and tung chung citygate outlet at Day 5??(after i had checked out)
but, walk with all the luggage is inconvenience..@@ rclxub.gif
*
Stanley is nowhere near to the peak

I don’t think it is feasible for you to go to the Citygate + cable car in JUST 4 HOURS
it will take you 2 hours to complete your visit to the ngo ping 360 cable car
and HK airport is huge plus it is another good places to shop
when the shopping ans walking starts, you will forget the time pass vey fast

It is impossible for you to watch the fireworks at 8p.m at Disneyland then reach AOS by 8p.m
