If u come from a university that produce hundreds of PhDs a year, anything more than 3k is a bonus.

Buying one online is a better option.

True.

Because if you are already in the industry, why are you diving into the education field, what more in gomen lol.

That's why current practice in gomen uni is prioritizing PhD holder with industrial experience, but not many with industrial experience AND a PhD apply... if a Gred 51 position is open, probably only 1 or 2 with industrial experience apply.

Because the current practice is you can only increase your starting salary i.e. for 51, is RM295/year AFTER your highest academic qualification.

Example - an engineer with 10 years experience in O&G, then after that 10 years you studied and obtained PhD. That 10 years of industrial experience prior to obtaining PhD cannot be used to increase starting salary, only experience AFTER your highest academic qualification counts.

That sucks. Weird policy. Must be crafted by those who never worked in industry.

Please vote, especially if you are a Lecturer.

That's how academia works. It has been always like this.

It's just that industry people cannot accept it because they think industry is the real thing and it's simply unacceptable for lecturers have no industry experience and go teach.

The fact is, teaching is teaching, industry is industry. Different things. Industry experience won't help you teach better at university. You will just have a lot of stories to share to students only. Your 20 years industry experience won't help your students to score better at exams.

Teaching experience is much more important than industry experience for academic positions.

you did not define the question properly.

1. lecturer phd with postdoc experience starting salary
2. lecturer just graduate with phd

the two starting salary is vastly different smile.gif
