Also do you guys experiencing heavy Safari Web Content (Cached) display in your activity monitor?

It really uses a lot of RAM *depending on what your browse, sometimes up to few GBs.

Luckily mine is 16GB, wonder how those MBAs with 8GB RAM able to cope without Memory Swap doh.gif doh.gif

Yes. I recently just found out. Did you install any Microsoft Office? If you do,
there is an application WindowServer has also occupying quite a lot of ram usage.

You can check with Activity Monitor

No, I do not use Microsoft Office. When I use Safari lightly, it occupies the RAM a lot but when I restart Safari the RAM is not occupied so much.

windowserver is a macOS process that is responsible for rendering graphic on your desktop. not related to microsoft office

compared to windows, macOS will use as much RAM as possible

hmm, I should put it better in this way.
windowserver is responsible for communicating with every program to display the content on your screen (Microsoft office, safari, Dock, Desktop, top bar, etc.)
it handles all the task of rendering and cache all the visual stuff (app, websites , windows, etc.), so if let's say microsoft office's window or safari webpage has something that require frequent visual updates/processing, it will take a lot of cpu and memory

probably those demo unit doesn't have much running on them, so the windowserver don't show up at the top? unless you specifically search for the process in Activity Monitor

Thanks for enlightening me.

I'm actually quite skeptical it could be some kind of virus that utilizes this amount of rams. Even I have restarted it and still the same.

Anyhow thanks for the detailed explanation thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
