From the buying experience of a used car, purchasing from a direct owner has these level of experience:
- finding the right deal from many platforms (like mudah etc)
- assurance that advertised details are accurate (lady driver! why should this matter?)
- view/test drive car (and learn about some of the features which the car doesn't even have!)
- agree mechanic inspection (and finding the right mechanic)
- if all goes through - sort out payment/loan
- check service history (hope no flood/accident)
- pay booking amount (what to do if seller runs away?)
- transfer process (is actually not that difficult)
- pay money (depends when seller demands it!)
Patience is the key to get the best deal!
Still I wish there was some kind of buyer protection or Escrow.
With the reputable dealer - at least they won't cheat with money and run away (can bankrupt but not run!).
Most peace of mind (my opinion) is manufacturer's own pre-owned program (like P2 POV).
Why people sell cars to dealers not end users?
