Company is between a rock and a hard place, screwed up.

Company may give in to the demand for now, but the boss would remember this. No company like to be put on ransom, thus Plan B would be initiate to counter this if it happens again in future.

When company wanna retrench people, they only show you the exit. No hard feelings.

At the end of the day, work is work. Salary is the exchange of a person's resource (time, knowledge, energy, experience blablabla). Not everyone can pull that card. Basically the guy is asking for his pay to be adjusted because if he can secure the offer from another company with higher pay - that means there's a certain value to his skills in the market and the current office COULD pay higher for it. Its a win-win for the guy.

Agreed on this.
Same thing happening now on Grab workforce..

Diverting a little - Grab is another one that's tricky. Managing a big fleet of riders/ drivers is slightly different. Grab iinm gave really good incentive starting out - to pull people in - but this gradually decreases over time as the service goes through ups and downs. Managing human resource/ people is one of the toughest job and basically everywhere in the job market especially retail is having issues hiring people at the shop.

You can say that laugh.gif there's also a price to 'loyalty'. If no major issue with current company, it's always better to stay where it fits you best.
