QUOTE(k_yagami @ May 13 2024, 09:41 PM) I just got the Kaon modem yesterday, plug in the U-Mobile SIM, turn on the power, and nothing happened. Connected to the modem page and it says SIM not detected, which is strange, because I can use that SIM on my phone and hotspot. Any advise? Can made simple review how the Kaon Modem web interface and performance?

QUOTE(k_yagami @ May 15 2024, 12:54 PM) Just a simple login page, login with password and I'm in I didn't get pass the SIM not detected page, although I can, but I'm looking for advise regarding this issue. Btw, how the web interface looks like will probably won't affect your purchasing decision. It's all similar. Actually looking at Band Locking function on Kaon Modem, cos no news on web about this modem...

QUOTE(year2020 @ May 19 2024, 11:23 AM) Just got the UM68 plan with router. I took the ZTE C888S router. However the speed I'm getting is only about 50mbps. This is after I connect to 5GHz wifi. If connect to 2.4GHz I will only get 25mbps. I check from cellmapper, there are 2 towers start with 703 within 500m to my house. There are no building in between, the first tower is on private hospital and the second tower is on indoor swimming pool. I'm on fifth floor and my building is the tallest. No other building blocking the path. What else can i do? I don't expect to get 300mbps but I read 5G DNB should be minimum 100mbps. I tried locking 4G band 28, but no difference. In fact download suffers and drop to 20mbps. Appreciate any pointers. What I know if MC801A or NR5103E, both if getting 3 Bar 5G signal should able to getting >300Mbps download speed, not sure about MC888s. Can you lock into the web interface of modem see what 4G & 5G signal you had? This post has been edited by ccgoay: May 19 2024, 09:53 PM

QUOTE(ericsow @ May 26 2024, 12:19 PM) The best part is the upload speed is ten time than download speed. Ah... no ideal, it came default. Turn it off also no improve performance. Here is it. By the way, Kaon cannot disable WIFI. Web page say 5G signal strenght is POOR, mean in 1-2bar, you need redirection you modem, to get better signal quality! in order to get better download speed! If on MC801A or NR5103E, Upload speed can achieve ~20Mbps, download speed also can get >100Mbps In phone how many bar o 5G signal? the phone can be help on locate best spot for Modem Location, but after that you still need turn the modem direction for best reception signal! QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Jun 29 2024, 08:26 PM) Just returned home from work cum dinner. Noticed that the router led turned green which indicate 4G network (even though I already set 5G NSA only). Login to my router showed it's still connected to 5G. I guess UM doing some hanky panky between 5g/4g switching. Speed is really slow now... 15Mbps. if you home 5G signal constantly 2 bar above, recommend you spent some money buy those able to lock (which can choose those single band B28 and N78) band modem router, easy free setup and more consistant.

QUOTE(johnlth93 @ Jul 9 2024, 01:27 PM) Is there any speed cap or FUP on this U HOME 68 plan? I just got one last night and can't seem to get any good speed. Even my own phone 5G can get better speed. Use MC801A at 3bar 5G signal getting ~250Mbps DL, ~40Mbps upload, at 5bar signal, getting ~500Mbps DL, 100Mbps UL. Use on Poco F3 phone able achieve 1GMbps DL, ~100Mbps UL.

The girl simpel take the nearer one instead. No, U Mobile only give MC888s or Kaon Modem, those better and stabil modem, U need to purchase yourself, from online or shop.

Smallest & slim 5G is MC801A1, me feel it's slightly better than NR5103E. By the way me had both 3 version MC801A1 & NR5103E.

QUOTE(trowapeter @ Sep 26 2024, 08:21 AM) Is there a prepaid version of U home? Whats the band number,I wan to try using it on my modified B310 modem to test. Don't think B310 support B28, so your modem B310 only running on 4G Data speed, depend area speed might below 70Mbps...

QUOTE(tmc @ Oct 24 2024, 09:13 PM) My Umobile bundled modem/router disconnects on me, everyday a few times. I suspect the router rebooted. It is a MC888S. Apart from that, I am okay with its reception, I am getting 5 bar in signal, even tough it is not as fast as my phone. It is only around 200-300 Mbps. But usable. Regarding the disconnection, you think a complaint to Umobile will work to resolve this issue ? Try read previous thread, someone do mention replace 1.5A12V Power adapter with 2A or 3A 12V adapter can resolve auto reboot issue ! You can try it cost less than RM20/=

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Nov 1 2024, 05:54 PM) Yeah, it didnt help. I kinda suspect it wont help but tried it anyway since I had a few Tenda AC18 which had the 2A adapter. Why? Because nowadays a lot of peripherals has a chip that control the voltage input that eventually it will just draw whatever power it needed and thats it. Oversizing the adapter power just put less strain on the adapter itself and had nothing to do with the peripherals. If your theoretical is correct, original is 1.5A, your should use 3A or 6A test out, as the 1.5A and 2A (unless branded with solid design) is not much difference in term of power loss!

QUOTE(tmc @ Nov 2 2024, 07:41 AM) I tested with a 12V 5A power supply which I bought for this purpose. One day when the plane flied over, the router rebooted. Maybe just coincidence. LOL. Randomly there were other times. 1! The reboot will not so frequent compare using 1.5A/2A adapter? if so the MC888s suck a lot power and heat generation is quite high! the need to add FAN to blow for lower the temperature!

QUOTE(1234kingbling @ Nov 21 2024, 03:56 PM) If you purchase Legit Broadband SIM YESFlexi 58/U Home 5G, can :- if Budget constrain, can consider ZLT X28 and Fastmile 3, both can lock band. If want better get Olax G5018 or Telstra AW1000... all can lock band but there are pro and con... and if very very budget limited, get VN700+ cheap can lock band, but not very good in speed test (due to CPU is IV500).
