Hi all, planning to change my ceiling concealed air con from Daikin.

Is it worth it to change to the inverter type?

I have read online that inverter AC units use less electricity, however will there be an issue with it not being as cold as non-inverter ac?

Anyone with inverter AC can provide input whether the electricity savings are substantial?

Sometimes it is not about savings.

Inverter felt more comfortable because your room temperature won't surge and fall, Inverter provided constant stable temperature with minimal surge or drop of temperature due to the compressor will be able to adjust to its need VS Non-Inverter would either go 100% max or turn off 0% when it reaches desired temperature.

This. The comfort alone worth the extra. The savings, is just a bonus.

If I could turn back time I would have installed all inverter in my house, rather than installing non-inverter at living rooms and inverter only in the bedroom. I took the wrong advice by stingy LYN forumers sweat.gif

And another misconception.. A/C performance being cold or not is not measured by being inverter or not, look at the spec sheet,
BTU is the one you need to look for to match with your room size.

depending your living room layout.. if open space, non inverter work better with low temp setting as inverter cannot achieve the saving mode anyway.

Anyway, you can swap those old inverter in bedroom to living hall and install newer inverter in bedroom..

This will be my next move later if my living hall aircon spoil

Buying any aircond need to check the specs beside the energy efficient saving star, rating compare especially the CSPF.. the higher the better.
But first thing is chose the correct size aircond and usage for the area.. any undersize aircond will not save you any $$.

Like I said, I prefer comfort over savings anyway. So, saving money isn't really the point here.

I can't swap since my living hall is installed with 2.5hp, while in bedroom the largest would be 2.0hp.

Can't change to inverter since coil size would be different. Need to hack the wall as well to change the coil.

In the end, just live with it. It's only 1-2 hours a day anyway.

1 hp in 3 bedrooms, 2 hp in master bedroom, 2.5hp in downstairs living hall and 1.5hp in upstairs living hall. All coils are concealed, so replacing with new ones would be messy.

So yeah, nothing much can be done other that tell people not to repeat my mistake sweat.gif

Yes the pros outweighs the cost. Don't think so much, just do it. Take inverter.

But for inverter ac, I read that there are more parts prone to failure. If the inverter spoils, then the entire ac is useless? Not sure if this is accurate, read it on the forums once.

Inverter A/C is a very mature market, the durability of the product also highly dependent on user and their maintenance as well.

if you are not cleaning A/C often with the right way, many thing can fail prematurely, this including using those sketchy A/C service that spray corrosive chemical to your parts for cleaning or claim deep cleaning while they only spray chemical on cooling coil.

YES inverter is the way to go. if you use long hours. power saving is about 30 to 60 %

why you dont want wall type ? its easier for service and cleaning.

ensure its correct size HP. and temp set about 23 to 26 C

I can't take wall type, as my condo originally comes with concealed, and I prefer concealed for aesthetic reasons.

Just checked with a daikin shop - a multi split air con (1 hp + 2.5hp) inverter aircon costs around rm10k, labour estimated around rm5k including ducting. Price is just crazy. Using back old piping.

Depends on location or usage hours.
If living room, I won't go for Inverter since I can tolerate the temperature fluctuations, more so if not switched on for a long time.

If bedroom, must use Inverter. Else becomes uncomfortable when the compressor cuts off.

Used properly, YES. Can expect up to 40 or 50% electricity saving

Otherwise, NO.

You can always just pull new piping and copper coils/rods externally, then just cover it with casing. Kinda ugly sure, but not impossible to install new inverter ACs.

Tumpany tanya here

The bedroom at second floor (2 storey terrace) is in need of new aircon replacement. Currently using non inverter from more than 10 years old

The problem is with concealed piping (within walls i think) and the outdoor units was installed on the middle roof (the place where water tank also placed there) for aesthetic reasons

If upgrade to inverter aircon, is it easier to put new piping/wiring outside and put the new outdoor unit into new place (like wall outside) rather than redo the concealed piping? Can i leave existing piping and odu alone when installing the new one. Because the newer gas and inverter replacement will implies new piping as is upgrading from very old to newer model
