Sushi Zanmai is still the golden benchmark for sushi chains in Malaysia. Decent taste, reasonable price, and accessible. That's why they always have long queues during weekends.

Genki Sushi is actually aggressively expanding since coming out of Covid Lockdowns. The quality of their food is much better than Sushi Zanmai, but the price is also higher than most affordable Sushi chains. You get what you pay for.

Sushi King =Cheap and not good

The rest of the "Sushi X " chains have disappeared or are failing.

A lot branches already closed shop. Sakae Sushi was the only alternative to Sushi King almost 20 years ago.

That why, if the menu remained the same & no introduction of new menu over the years, consumers will just get bored.

The rate we are going, I expext more expensive and high end outlets to shut down as people tighten their purses. Only kopitiams, mamaks and mid level outlets will survive.

Mid valley zanmai sucks too. Was OK before they renovate years ago.

After renovate, the whole restaurant become stuffy and air is oily.
And looks dark n dull too.

Food is mehhh. And never visited since my last visit after they renovated
